Skilling Fishing 24+

What are some decent targets for skilling up fishing from 24+?
Up to this point it seemed like certin fish had better skill up chances, and others i never got anything on. Ive tried a few diffrent targets a long while back, but i swear i could win next years mog banaza before i would ever see a +.1

All done in Nashmau:
0-53 Robber Rig, Istiridye (If no Lu, Halcyon to 27 on Nebs)
53-86 Shrimp Lure, Mercanbaligi & Ahtapot
86-99 Lugworm or Sinking Minnow, Pterygotus
99-100 QSC, Meatballs/Cave Cherax OR Oldton Movalpolos, Sinking Minnow/Armored Pisces, OR Lik/Gugs Minnow/Meatballs

Shall Shells, Bastore Bream / Mercanbaligi, Trumpet Shells, etc with Lu's.

I used shrimp lure and Lushang up to about level 35ish on the ferry, then I swapped the shrimp lure out for a minnow and stayed on the boat till about level 53ish with a lushang. The only thing you have to watch out for is the legendary ryugu titan- which will bite and break your line; and or your pole if you are not careful. Im at level 61 now, and Im fishing in Nashmau with a shrimp lure and Lu again and it seems to be slow, but its making me a nice profit on the side too. If I get bored of Nashmau I use bluetail bait and still go to the ferry and fish for cones, silver sharks, ryugu titans (I can pull up some now and the .3 skill ups they give are nice!), and bhelfel marlins.

To add, if you have a bonecraft friend/have bonecraft, you can sell/synth the istiridyes for a chance at Black pearl. (also taken from BG. lolz)

If you don't have a Lu, and are serious about skilling fishing, I *highly* recommend working towards one; be it saving up for one, or actually doing that ridiculous quest. Lu Shang's depletes fish stamina faster and keeps fish on the line longer; kinda like a composite and halcyon rod combined with added durability.

Anyway, definitely buy a robber rig and fish up shall shells in Buburimu, or their Aht Urgan counterpart in Nashmau as mentioned above. That will take you to 40 or so (as a side note, bivalves have a very distinct pull so they're easy to detect).

From 40+, your best bet is to live on the Selbina/Mhaura ferry, catching everything you can with a minnow lure. If you have cooking skilled, you can slice the bluetail you catch into bait for marlins (trading marlins to Zaldon in Selbina may give you a Pirate's/Brigand's Chart).

i have no idea why people see nashmau as an appealing option

Because, although I did soles. They are slow as all hell.
Make an easy synergy earring and getting to nashmau is cake.

Unless you're in a rush to skill fishing, I'd suggest straight up doing dil and mercanbaligi in Talacca. I started fishing there at 14 fishing once I got my lu shangs, which was on June 23rd, and I'm at 81 now. And of course the gil you make each day by just npc'ing the fish is nice~!

ifsihed nebi up until the end of the 20's then i went dorectly to cone clams and bluetails. until cap 55 (bluetaisl caps

coen clm sells pretty ok for alchemys to make ink which goes into shehei and bluet ails is npc for 300 per fish


after that i did silver sharsk with halcyon

and when i finanly got my lu shang (quested mine 100% own fished up fish) i just did nebis +bastore bream or purely blacksole's

Only part of nash I actually liked was the Istiridye, after that I went the black sole route in port jeuno and qufim. Then cave cherax.

I just started Ryugu titans at 97. 2x rod breaks.

FML, back to nashmau.

that guide is overly complicated and outright wrong

while it's nice, long, and properly formatted, all of those things still don't make it correct :(

I went to SSG for a bit and fished up nebs for money while skilling on breams and grims, then just decided to do Nash. Isn't really out of the way, go there once, get Nash stone, do synergy quest, synergize earring, bam!

200 fish at qufim is almost invariably more profitable than 200 fish at nashmau

the place is amazingly overrated
