I tested Contus myself when I got it because there was no prior data. A quick 2 hour test in Batallia showed the DA can proc on any jump and is ~ 5%

Just got these a few hours ago, would be perfect for DRK, would have killed for +4 polearm skill...

How does this set compare to the few posted on the previous page?

It is a 5-hit assuming two additional hits land.
Any improvements I can make? Would it be worth using Ace's over Calmecac to cap haste? (I am thinking no since very tiny increase compared to TA.) I would prefer to use Ganesha's if I can, quad attack is pretty cool. I do not have a Moonshade atm, but it will be going towards TP bonus, so regain is not an option.

Thor, wouldn't a lot of that multi-attack stuff be kinda useless with the OaT polearm?

Edit: I know TA and QA have priority over DA, but the OaT polearm attacks pretty damn frequently anyways, no?

Not sure, maybe. Still QA = immediate full TP which would be nice, and TA means definite full TP in next attack round. With Stardiver, overflow TP isn't bad since TP increases damage.

But maybe it is a waste for extra DA/TA/QA since polearm has roughly ~45% attack twice if I have done my research right.

For comparison purposes:

A: OAT with no DA/TA/QA averages ~1.45 hits/round
B: OAT with Brutal/Atheling averages ~1.494 hits/round (3.03% more than A)
C: OAT with Brutal/Atheling/Calm. averages ~1.535 hits/round (2.74% more than B)
D: OAT with Brutal/Atheling/Ganesh. averages ~1.544 hits/round (3.35% more than B)
E: OAT with Brutal/Atheling/Calm./Ganesh averages ~1.584 hits/round (6.04% more than B) (9.26% more than A)

Weird, cuz the difference between A and B is 3.03%, but its adding +8% DA. See what I mean though? Kind of unbalanced. Stacking EVERYHING might not be THAT bad, but you also have to take into account OaT proc on jumps, and the (soon to be) shorter jump timers. Idk mate, doesn't seem worth it to me personally.

The big concern with OAX weapons is since SA/TA/QA overwrites the OAX efect, for OA2-4 weapons, they get gimped by DA. In this case, it is just OA2, and if QA or TA overwrites it, it can only be a good thing.

Are we sure its not the other way around? I was under the impression that the weapon checked 1st and DA/TA/QA via gear/traits checked second, but i have no idea to be honest. Ive just always put the weapon procs 1st.

Though i should probably get more sure since i now deal with excessive amounts of DA/TA via mythic aftermath xD It would actually make a difference for me.

I am currently TP'ing in this:

If I ws in EAF+2 body, brutal, and rajas I can still 3/4 drakes/stardiver without screwing up the 5-hit. I think your odds of 4/4'ing a ws are like... 80% with capped acc? I like having that 1 hit miss safety net. This build mantains a good portion of the attack that benefits a 6-hit user.

I don't have brego yet but obviously those would be a shoe in.

QA > TA > DA > OAX

The testing is somewhat scattered, but there's probably links to at least part of it on BGwiki. TA taking precedence over DA was established via a THF parse that Motenten analyzed, and there's followup testing for DA/OAX in the Mathy Parts subforum.

Im very familiar with the TA>DA test. There was a lotta confusion on it because of an error in Kparse that was brought to light with that test that originally led us to think DA>TA. That error was corrected and proven TA>DA.

I think its just kinda assumed QA>TA with the precident that TA>DA already set. I havent seen anything on QA really since its such a rare stat.

However, my big question is regarding OAX weapons vs DA/TA/QA via gear/traits since that can rather heavily affect me personally with a 20%TA/40%DA mythic xD. Ill see if i can find anything, but havent seen anything about it yet. But even if i do, it will likely only cover the more 'common' OAX weapons, joy/soboro/magian. Mythic OAX is already a little funky and doesnt follow the same rules as the others 'normal' ones. (it procs on WS like trait/gear unlike OAX weapons, but only can proc once on WS instead of twice like gear/trait. Mythics are odd)

If anyone knows anything about OAX vs DA/TA/QA proc priority thatd be helpful. If you know of any tests using funky mythic aftermath OAX i luv u long time ^_^;;

Id love to be able to accurately model my mythic stuff for optimizing gear without reinventing the wheel and doing hours of parsing/testing if possible :S

Remembered the primary tester wrong, it was Byrth, but still.

Mythic AM3 appears to just be OAX that can proc on WS from what testing I've done with Tizona. Could get a stronger test going later with more DA gear/atmas though, maybe use Conqueror for the sake of having higher delay and a clearer end result.

I was actually thinking of an alla thread dealing with TA and DA thats a good bit older than those and had the Kparse problem that kinematics eventually fixed, but those OAX threads are good info too, thanks.

FYI, that threads results were turned on its head by the end, so dont just check the 1st post :P

Now i just have to 'assume' mythic works the same way, but im not really wiling to do that when every type of multi hit category does at least 1 thing differntly. OAX only work on Melee/Jumps and mutually exclusive from other types, but not WS. Jailers not mutually exclusive to other type of procs, no WS. Traits/Gear work on melee/Jumps and up to twice on WS. Mythic at 1st glance like OAX, but can proc on WS, but only once on WS, not twice like gear/traits.

Im a little hesitant to just lump mythic in with OAX when it already breaks the OAX rule for WS, but cant be considered gear/trait because it only works once on WS.

WRY SE have to be unnecessarily complicated ><

Didn't bother linking the alla thread since you were already aware of it.

I never said anything about assumptions and even offered to perform a formal test on mythic AM3 myself later, so I think your second paragraph might be a bit out of line.

Of course, I only meant that the information regarding mythics (as far as i know) doesnt exist yet and lamenting that fact, and SE's intentional vagueness on game mechanics leaving the players to figure out every little detail since they tell us nothing.

If you do in fact attempt to solve this mystery all my kudos and internets will go straight to you ^_^ But im still allowed to be annoyed at SE making us all test this crap for hours because they cant be arsed to get their hand wet while we drown in their 'mystery' and vagueness :P

Read through everything and there's just so many sets... Does this look good until I can get my hands on Phasmida and switch Blitz to Tyrant? Or is that 1 less STP gonna affect me too much? Also, any improvements on this WS set?

EDIT: This allows me to use Rancor Collar when I wish and still lets me 3/4 Stardiver right? I would rather not be stuck with Houyi's, but if I can't 3/4 then I probably will..

Anyone use ffxi calc? According to it, if you added tyrants ring to your tp set, and /sam you would have a true 5-hit from 0 tp.

As long as that program is correct, you are 5-hitting with that exact tp/ws set as long as the first hit on stardiver lands. (/sam not required)

Edit: Are ppl still using drakesbane? Not counting VW (I don't do that on drg) my stardivers are much better.

Both are 4 hit, right?
Should be same tp required.

Ws'ing with 507 delay in 20 stp (on top of /sam) nets you 19.9 tp with at least two hits.

edit: *derp* I guess I already contributed this information a month ago. Disregard me.

Been browsing this thread looking at different gear sets, majority of the ones I see are using the 507 delay OAT weapon.

Edit: assume /sam

I will probably not go through with the OAT weapon just because DRG is in no ways any kind of main job, just kind of leveling it on the side for some fun, though at the same time I'd prefer to not have it be undergeared, I just don't see me putting the time in for the OAT. With that being said chances are I'll have a 492 delay weapon. Prolly gonna shoot for something like:

TP:

Drakesbane:

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

That looks approximate to what a good majority of drgs wear these days. I know a lot will also get either aces pants or augmented bestia trousers. Both of which are free, aside from time invested.

I made this for a friend who was looking to 5-hit 492 while maintaining capped haste, and not taking a massive nosedive on attack:

It only requires you to land 3/4 hits (drakes or star) in this:

Ah okay thanks for input, would it be worth WS'ing in tyrants to keep pole grip in? Or would I be better off with rose and WS'ing STR ring?

Have breeches with +4 haste, calmecac just looked a bit nicer.
Hadn't thought about Zelus, wasn't sure if the attack and polearm skill was worth the 2% haste or so

Heres my Drakes sets atm. I'll put my Stardiver set up later. But I use Ares body for Stardiver.

5-hit for /SAM 6-hit for /WAR or /RDM

Currently trying to work out if I should use Rancor Collar + Atheling Mantle instead.

Aces/lancers.
Aces highest str available, 12atk, 12 acc. (New lv 100 nyzul body would be better, but GL with that). However if your acc is down, lancers wins with the 10.5 more acc. Pretty balck/white. Low acc=lancer. Capped/high acc=aces. But if you can get nyzul body.....good for you xD

Drakes gets a little funkier.

*Aces is the most raw str (also 100 nyzul body. GL with that :P) but lacking in the crit department.
*Lancers has the best overall balance. It has good str, high atk, rediculous acc (14dex+14acc=24.5acc), and a huge chunk of dex to keep your Ddex up for crits (very hit or miss bonus) and of course the STP.
*Zahaks just doesnt hold up anymore. It doesnt have any attack and gets blown out in the acc/atk department by everything else. 3crit rate vs 13acc/atk and 4more str on lancers just doesnt match well. Similar to aces.

Its really a toss up between lancers/aces. Lancers has +12.5acc, +15 Ddex vs Aces having +1atk and +4str. Its really pretty close. Aces has a LITTLE more power, but lancers has a LOT more acc and the nominal Ddex component (and the STP if applicable).

I really wouldnt loose any sleep over lancer vs aces for drakes. But i tend to lean with 12.5 acc and 15dex over 4str and 1 atk. Sure you are often capped acc, and sometimes Dex wont do jack, but thats probably on junky mobs anyway. I want my drakes to hold up on high end mobs better so Id take all that acc over 4str any day. The rest is just gravy.

I've been playing around with the DPS spreadhseet that has been floating around, and this seems to be the highest damaging set for drakesbane:

and this is the tp set I want to play with, true 5 hit with capped haste:

(ryu in 3800 alex!)

Moonshade is atk+4/tp+25

Augmented heca +1 feet with str/pole skill would be better I imagine, but the spreadsheet can't account for that just yet.

Not sure about Zahak's being useless, I can't really say I've tested it though in all honesty, I'm sure you're probably right.
