They don't need pictures on a forum, they log everything everyone does, and all they'd have to do to find every player doing it is look in today's log after maint and ctrl+f every instance of 99999 damage and catch the vast majority of people.

I agree, Saw a screenshot of someone using windower (due to seeing others TP and timestamp on sreenshot) doing 99,999 cures and posted it on the FFXI forums. REALLY? people who post crap on the one site out of the thousands they could have posted that pic on that can ban them for it, deserve to get banned lol

Maybe, but with the high rate of easy photoshop access and such, SE's only real grounds of evidence lies within their logs. They can't go to a site such as this one and start banning people wantonly, just because they have a windower picture.

People post windower screenshots all the time and no one cares, ever.
Also, as it was said before, they wouldn't use screenshots to prove anything as they can be altered. They'd just use their logs, which contain EVERY SINGLE THING YOU DO.

SE GM's cant even use a screenshot taken from their own game application as proof of anything let alone be upset over using windower, the only source they can rely on is their server logs which they have years and years saved worth just for instances like this...

People really think players will be banned? Way too much time on your hands and you're putting way too much thought into these things. Hate to see how /butthurt people will be on these forums if the servers were permanantly shut down.

They do not log everything everyone does. There isn't enough server space in the world to do that.

They log the choke points of action that let them piece together events in hindsight: player trades, mail, looting, item destruction, certain mob death, etc.

They likely also have the ability to reach into clients and pull volatile client logs while connected, like most MMO's, in order to confirm things like harassment. Which can make them seem omnipotent, but only temporarily. At least that's how it worked on MMO's back when I was a GM/developer.

In the case of the Salvage dupe bug, they likely included specific logging of precisely the event in question well before they finalized the permanent fix, and then simply globally banned against everyone who popped up in that specialized log after X months.

But to log every movement, every weapon swing, every spell cast, every zone, etc would be logistically impossible.

On top of that, they only hold that info for a limited amount of time, unless it causes a serious problem. For example, everyone has that One-time item return for people who throw away or NPC and item they did not mean to. They can only go back up to a week or two. At least thats what i was told when i did so.

I think I'm having ffxi withdrawals...and that's weird for me because lately I've only actually been playing once a week (Sundays)...but yesterday I attempted to solo farm some gear/currency in Dynamis Xarcabard and it was SO much fun that I've been dieing to get in today so I can fix up some more gear swaps and what not and do it again tonight...I'm all antsy and stuff :(

My husband's being awesome though, he's helping me figure out all of the stuff I need to get to be better and have more fun...so I guess all of this emergency maintenance is kind of good thing in my case...but...I'm still extremely bored...

Bout a month ago I lost my joytoy, (Not rly a big deal.),GM pulled up my instance of accidentally throwing away a Jupiter's staff October 14th 2004 and had no trouble pulling up the date and time.

That GM or whomever told you that "week or two" story, definately lied to you. Go Protest.
