What people don't seem to see is that those protesters are actually successful. They intendedly provoked the policemen to go to jail for some days (cf. second video : they were actually warned). In that way, the medias speak about them, about they demands, and people start debating in forums such as here. If those five guys had protested outside of the memorial, no one would have ever mentioned them. That's called protesting or demonstrating : you have to do some noise if you want to be heard.

I don't really care about the law either way. I can see it from both sides. My issue is with whining about being arrested while breaking said law. They wanted the attention, they got it. Now they have to deal with the consequences and hope it was worth it.

Are you talking about the comparison to when we published the new rules? If so, yes. I was actually going to mention it, but changed my mind.

Did you ever think the law is wrong or at best unnecessary? I see many comments about being arrested for being stupid/sh*t etc but really are they not doing this to show how silly the law is?

Thats what i took away from the videos, people showing how crazy this law is whilst doing a very tame version of the "crime" itself.

Like I said, I don't care about the law either way. I just don't think people should be so surprised when they're actually arrested for breaking it.

If you break the law, then prepare to get the ramifications.

The police did nothing wrong, they weren't overly violent and as soon as the people were told to stop they should have done so.

You don't change laws by breaking them.

What do you mean 'Ignorance is bliss'?

They clearly knew the law

They broke it voluntarily

What did you think would happen? The police would go

"Oh damn, now we've seen the error of our ways, you can carry on breaking the law and I'll wrote a strongly worded letter to the senate in the morning"

You don't protest by breaking laws, you hurt your cause that way.

If you believe in something enough to break laws to demonstrate, then you should believe in it enough to go to jail for it..

If you're not ready to go to jail for it, you should really re-evaluate whether you believe in it enough to break laws.

So you are trying to say you don't care about their protest nor the law but dislike their complaing yes?

I'm pretty sure that drawing attention to a protest and or the outcome is the point in the first place? If they had appealed this law in court you would anyone of us really ever heard about it?

I'm sorry but I'm really having a hard time thinking you are not a little bit silly or perhaps trolling? Your comments are very much in line with what most folks outside the US would stereotype an ignorant american and it pains me to think people really do just blindly think this way.

I'm British and I agree with them being arrested. He's not being ignorant at all by saying they deserve to be arrested by breaking laws.

What do you think should have happened? I'm guessing you think the world should be anarchy right?

And if they just quietly protested, kept their actions to themselves and did their time would anyone really hear about it?

That is the point ladies and gents, they have to spread the word for it to have any impact.

It's not rocket science, try and keep up please.

And if they are that caught up the cause then they should be prepared to be arrested for it.

Or do you think they should be able to break the law without any impact at all?

I think you're too hung up on the protest and missing the fact that they BROKE THE LAW.

Laws don't change in five minutes.

but this can bring more protests, that will bring some preassure to politic, so the politic has to act.to forbit demonstration will cause more resistance.
and i think due to the fact that kissing or dancing in public doesn't hurt anyone it shouldn't be forbidden, so reaction of politic should be: "oh yes you are right, this law is wrong, we did a mistake" but hmm since when are ppl able to agree that they did something wrong and apologyze?

The police enforcing the law don't have the power to change the law.

If someone breaks the law and they see, they have to enforce it.

Whether it's a stupid law or not, the fact that they are complaining about being arrested makes them morons.

They should have been arrested and gone quietly instead of acting like goddamn activist hippies.
