Ukon with RR/Apoc/SS 6-hit was slightly ahead of RR/Apoc/VV 5-hit in the numbers I ran just now, potentially suboptimal TP gear on the former; both well ahead of RR/Apoc/SS 5-hit. Retaliation might skew the results a bit, spreadsheet doesn't account for that.

4/5AF3+2, Zelus, Rajas/Blitz, Goading, Atheling, Brutal/ravager's Earrings, Ravager's Gorget and Ravager's Stone?

well it's not really hard to 6hit in general, i was just wondering what the "potentially suboptimal" gear he was talking about was.

Any point in moonshade>ravager's? Should be a 6 hit right there.

In actual math, which set is stronger?

Why the hoard ring? AF3+2 + Rajas + Brutal should already be a 6hit. (16.7% return)

I imagine this would be optimal:

I was using a Sword Strap 6-hit but I went back and just realized it wasn't actually a 6-hit. Swapping to Claymore establishes a sizeable advantage over the 5-hit.

New set:
Ukon/Claymore/---/Ravager's
Zelus/Ravager's/Ravager's/Brutal
Ravager's +2/Ravager's +2/Blitz/Rajas
Atheling/Goading/Ravager's +2/Ravager's +2

Continuing to adjust... Askar body increases DPS, so swapping to Ebody with favorable augments (DA+2, STP, attack or another favorable third augment if possible) should be even better.

Lol oops, the only difference between the set I posted and the original I quoted was pole strap. Just pointing that out

It is, if the regain means nothing to your X-Hit build.

yeah i was wondering about things like askar and sword strap, but i think you can do a 6hit with sword strap if you use white tath? claymore grip in abyssea only?

I'd guess it's safer to increase your chance to crit, rather than increasing the crit damage by such a small margin, if you aren't at 100 crit rate already

The Regain would win in every situation.

FFXI isn't as exact as the gear stats.

For the very same reason, a 1Tp/Tick regain item, under high haste conditions and with gear being swapped in and out, will be the least reliable of all ;P

No, because your critdmg value will be higher than your critrate.

The Sword Strap build did use wtath. It comes up just a bit short on TP for a 6hit even if assuming the extra hit lands though... making some adjustments to get the last 0.4 TP but it's still not matching the Claymore build. Pole is probably best outside Abyssea, I'll run a scenario for current content now.

Claymore seems to be performing marginally better than Pole outside Abyssea.

There are WS DMG+2% Crit Rate +3% Trophy pants already, and apparently they aren't as good as AF3+2, I can't imagine 4 STR and 3 less attack would be any better than them.

'kay, Like I said I completely stopped using WAR a long time ago; so I never really kept up-to-date with TP/WS sets.
