29 STp for 6 hit (14 from gear/atma)
54 STp for 5 hit (39 from gear/atma)
93 STp for 4 hit (78 from gear/atma)

These numbers represent needed STp values in a tp set going from 0tp to 100tp. None of these are based on actually using a ws, numbers would vary slightly for that due to the second hit of Ukko's. Also it does not account for any regain sources (atma/moonshade earring).

Technically it doesn't... Just sayin. ^^
not *any* amount.
Think it'd be around...15%? Not an amount you'd ever have to actually sacrifice anyways.

So I have a few questions about gear set for inside abyssea, but I'm really interested in the set up for outside Abyssea.

Inside: I'm using the sets Ejin provided math for. My biggest questions, are ravager's legs +2 really better than hachiryu haidate?
And with blood rage up, war crit hit damage is capped without feet. So, are there any feet out there with more STR on them than hecatomb leggings +1? (*** Clout Boots)

Outside: As for outside, my biggest concern is exactly how much DEX I should be using. I would love to cap DEX crit hit rate with ukko's and believe that will do the most damage as well.
Here are the sets I was thinking of (I'm mithra btw):

Or would the best be a slight mix of both. Maybe use set#2, but replace twilight helm with ravager's mask +2. I just really don't know how much DEX is needed.

Thoughts?

Back at level 75, vs colibris, we needed aprox +50 dex, depending on job and race.
Vs anything harder, even more.
So, right now, both those sets should provide enough dex to cap ddex vs most stuff outside abyssea I think >_> Not sure for all nms etc, but yeah.

You're looking at +43 DEX; +43 STR; +45 attk; +33 acc; +6% Critical Hit Rate; +4% DA vs. +56 DEX; +50 STR; +75 attk; +44 acc; +3% DA from set 1 to set 2. If you exchange the values, it sums up to:

Set 2 is superior to Set 1 by: 13 DEX, 7 STR, 30 attk, 11 acc, 1% DA, but suffers a 6% critical hit rate loss. Whether or not 13 DEX is an equivocal value is vastly specific and I don't know, but I doubt it.

Do these sets factor in an x-hit?

Ya it would be used with a 5-hit. My understanding was always if you ws in rose, rajas, and brutal you will maintain your 5-hit.
TP would be this

Moonshade with regain

Which btw, the fact that you need 39 sTP in gear /sam, and you can only achieve 38 sTP with 25% haste and attillas earring. Meaning you have to either use moonshade earring, or eat carbonara, is some /troll *** by SE. 1sTP off! /sigh

Anyway, looking at the numbers from both sets, #2 does look nice, but losing 6% crit hit rate seems like a lot to give up.

I believe you need to keep the Goading on to maintain a 5-hit, and that's considering regain, and cuts it very close. If you DA more than once, or have a very high haste rating (March x2), you may not hit the 5-hit mark for that round. That's the math I came up with a few weeks ago anyway.

I agree about the crit hit rate, but a good deal of it depends on effort/gil ratio. I'd probably opt for set 1, but use Twilight Mail myself, but I'm old-fashioned.

Any ideas on the inside abyssea question? Ravager's legs +2 vs. hachiryu haidate and better STR feet?

Hecatomb is the only STR boots I know of honestly for WAR. I can look more later on tonight. As far as Ravager's Cuisses, Hachiryu is certainly the more expensive approach, but I don't know if it's the most intelligible approach. I prefer the DA and attack honestly, but again I'm old school.

The gargoyle NM is pretty simple. Much easier than killing Indrik for light belt

Indrik isn't hard... I've low manned him several times.

Inside abyssea you'll get more damage out of Ravager's Calligae +2 then any str feet. As for legs.. personally I use Hachiryu Haidate.. mostly because I have them already.

Did no one read what I wrote? Inside abyssea with blood rage up, you are capping crit hit damage without boots. So my question was for STR boots only when blood rage is up.
Guess its hecatomb +1 then. I may try a few dominion feet to see if I can get lucky on some STR+7 or something.

That is great news! Is this STR+5 augment, or total including base stat? If that's +5 augment then I'm going to aim for those.
And Lorzy, check my original post. Too lazy to quote, but it went something like "*** clout boots"

lol maybe! Also I just realized I said Hachi was better... that was a mistake, AF3+2 legs are easily better. Second part was talking about feet so yes Yannie I did read your post, even if I suck at responding to it!

Yeh, I figured AF3 legs were better, at least in Abyssea. I couldn't resist mentioning the subligar as alternative to Hachi though lol

I believe right now HQ Heca feet are the best overall option for non Crit WS (they're still the best feet for THF and DRG too), especially since they're not bound to just one job alone and have no nasty negative stats that affect WS like Clout boots.

With Blood rage up yes STR would be better your best choice is Heca +1 for now. I personally wouldn't run out and buy those with an impending version update coming though.
