Why does my body reject healthiness this day?! Shiva.Spathaian said: » *wanders into the thread and flops down onto the floor* Why does my body reject healthiness this day?! years of mistreating your body with junk food and a non-exercise daily routine does that. Okay, so I have a question for Dread, Jet, anyone else familiar with specifics of PC parts. If I get this bonus at work that I'm hoping for, I'm looking to build a new PC so I can play these newer games like Skyrim and FFXIV that people keep talking about.
My question comes down to this type of stuff... 1. Processors. Is i5 still pretty much the most functional in the way of performance and value? If so, that brings me to my next question. (Just grabbing two that have significant a price difference as an example.) Is there going to be a noticeable performance difference between this one and this one. I realize the second in this example doesn't have integrated graphics, but that's not really a factor and it brings me to my next question. 2. GPUs. I'm assuming the 600 series GeForce GTX cards are the best way to go from what I've seen people discuss before. My main question is, is there a specific series card I should be looking for? Like, is a 680 going to be a lot better than a 650, for example. And what's the reason for the huge price range? And is there something else (500 series, or a Radeon card that's similar performance) that I should look into instead that is better as far as cost:performance? And last, and probably the one I'm least informed about: 3. Motherboards. I know I need to be sure it's compatible with whatever CPU/GPU/memory I pick out. But beyond that, I'm not sure, as far as brands and (again) cost goes. I'm not looking to be as cheap as possible, but I don't want to buy the most expensive of everything if it's not going to make a big enough difference. I also looked into some pre-built PCs on NewEgg, but none of them really seemed worth it as far as the cost compared to what they actually came with. Thanks in advance! Goodjob Mag, You're off to a solid start. Keep at it and your endurance will build very quickly. Also, I couldn't get it because the pic was broken, but now it makes sense to me. I hated that minigame. Dread is Dah Bawmb. That is all.

For motherbords you want to look at the chip set. Both processors you linked are LGA 1155, there for you need to find a motherboard that has that style (that isn't a micro ATX board) Both processors you linked are good, naturally I would go with the i5-3570K. GPU's you get more bang for your buck. The 670 is solid for the price, and 680 is awesome, the 690 is better then both. You can't go wrong with any of them, but I would aim for the 670 atleast. Sorry, but bratwurst > hot dogs, forever and always.
Jetackuu said: » as to the 360 controller thing again: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XBCD is a custom driver that should get a 360 controller to work for games like XI and other games that don't like xinput. However using that you'd have to use a "wrapper" for each xinput game you want to play with that controller, if all you play is XI, then use it, if you play other PC games (mostly new ***) you probably shouldn't use it. if I read the guide right, this software should let you configure the controller differently for different programs: http://pinnaclegameprofiler.com/ and would be better for those who play a lot of new games, that need X-input. I'd personally probably try the first route and just deal with what doesn't like a direct input device on a case by case basis, there's tools that let you emulate a 360 controller with a direct input device, and yes I do realize that you'd be taking a xinput device, making it a direct input and then using another tool to reverse it, but that would probably be the best option in a lot of cases for those who don't want a lot of programs running, and aren't that computer savvy. Personally for XI, I'd like to see SE add xinput functionality, but as seeing as they want to drop the controller for the new UI, I doubt it. I wonder if the Windower guys would be kind enough to attempt such a thing. I can find the resources (I think) to do such a thing, I just don't know how to code it... I'm going to talk to a few friends of mine who may be able to though. edit: the XBCD will not work with the wireless reciever as of this time (just looked, after I installed it...) I didn't test to see if it works with the charge kit.) going to quote so people can see the bottom. It might sound bad but really it changes the flavor. But also if I cook hotdogs they are pan fried or by flame, I hate boiling them or :/ microwaving them. |
