Drake sword/Halbard. 138 dmg on Halbard, 200 dmg on sword, I have a Claymore +3~ with 133 dmg and 93 dmg on the tail axe.
Drake Sword can last you until you beat the Capra Demon, but then you really should start looking into using something that scales with your stats and upgrade it. Just find something that you enjoy how it swings and you have a feel for it and take it to +10. You can find the large ember at the start of the depths after the first butcher with 2 dogs and a fire.

Murakumo. It drops off the Giant Sword skeletons according to the wiki. And they drop 500 souls! So it's not bad farming. :3 Two birds one sword. Also, that feel when I typed that and thought of two girls one cup. :|

Last night I dreamt that I was in some long past era and an outside voice was commenting the surroundings like in a documentary. Apparently there were still dinosaurs and herbivorous were going extinct because normal plants didn't grow anymore, but instead there were only cacti covered in thick nails and so animals couldn't eat them(the scene then moves to a couple of buffalos who try to charge at a cactus to split it open and eat it, but they hurt their foreheads).
And buffalos were like "domestic dogs", and it showed a farmer with a buffalo on a leash walking around casually.
