Random Thoughts.....What are you thinking?

I know I was in an ATT store the other day and he was actually surprised that they do lol (well they seem to only carry the lolipad... so why am I not surprised?) I could care two *** about the 3G (as you will do I'll probably trick it with a cheapo sim... if I figure out how :p) yeah it's 3g. wish it was 4g, oh well, it's not like 4g that available over here anyway. I've yet to activate it, I left my spare phone with the woman, and she has yet to return it (her phone was on the fritz). x3 lol
I'll probably wait to see if they come out with anything better... or until I get the money :| I've got someone willing to sell me a 6 month old laptop for 500 (assuming I can get that much lol...)
It's not the BEST specs on it (I can't recall them atm though lol) but it's a laptop (NOT a netbook -_-) I just gotta see if the lady will let me test it out a bit and take payments on it a little at a time. I'm tempted to get rid of mine, but it gets hot, and has a dent in it, and the hdmi port stopped working. paid $1500 for the damn thing /grumble I'm going back to a desktop main soon. Jetackuu said: » dedicated graphics, and 8gb+ of ram, nope and I at least remember it had 4GB. It's really just a placeholder until I can get something better (ala the people that are helping me set up my business buys me it x.x, they will... but it'll have to be a ... mac .... :| ) I can probably talk her down to like 250 if I toss the right words around lol. They have certain 'providers' they go through to get certain big ticket items... it's people that will take a loss on price (aka selling a $1600 camera to them for like... half that...) It's going to be ONLY a work computer so as far as I care ... as long as they buy me a replacement copy of photoshop... I don't care, if it runs and lets me edit my photos... so be it (I cringe saying that... so so much) bah, trying to find this piece I saw a while ago :| it's like a hot swap bay for your PC (fits in a drive bay) BUT it's an external hard drive (like you take it out and can drag it along with you... it has an enclosure already on it) and you can plug it in when you get home to just easily get your files (without having to worry about plugs and whatnot)
can't remember the brand name for the life of me though. dread, gonna have 2nd 90 soon

(if you can't get the Asus, Asus are great products). Carbuncle.Skulloneix said: » Guess the guy on Carby got his loan. Yeah I can 'suggest' different products ... but that doesn't necessarily mean I'll get them, I guess they weight it out and decide what's the better 'deal', I'll be fine with a mac I guess as long as I can dual boot windows on it (Most newer ones I think can?) Any particular Asus? They love it when I send links along with suggestions. Aly Saxena said: » my DK, but i moved it to another server with my friend Cool, better not hurt yourself with all the facerolling ;P any mac with an intel cpu can load windows, pretty much with or without bootcamp, but they make it really easy with it apparently, finding the drivers may not be so easy at times though.
If you're talking desktop? none that I know of, I don't look up prebuilts, and I haven't looked up the laptops in awhile. laptops.
I have a good enough deskop, I need mainly something I can pick up and go if I need to do editing on the road (or if I want to be all cool and sit in a starbucks and do *** ... cause yeah ... I wanna do that *** ... {just kidding >.>}) if I were to go anywhere it would be my towns old 'city' which is a really nice calm environment. that and I can get some really good pictures there. At least Catnip can't screw up a Mac.
If he can, we'll need to put him under a rock for the rest of his life. Ramuh.Laffter said: » At least Catnip can't screw up a Mac. I'll find a way :p well then I'd make them splurge for the business class laptop (they cot more, same hardware) have plenty of ram, and a good cpu, and great graphics card.
If I understand it right though, most rendering requires a high end cpu, more so than the gpu, so I'd just look up models that have good dedicated gpu chipsets, and compare the cpu's on a cpu benchmark site to get a comparison, as there's i5's out there now, probably i3's too that smoke my current i7... and make sure it has a ssd main drive, and either a second drive or they get some sort of external and or online backup (and would be the best really). for rendering, I'd think what 16gb of ram would do now? I have a 2TB external for back up, as well as I usually triple backup/quad backup (I have a second HDD on my PC that's for storage, as well as an offsite cloud storage site) |
