As much as it can suck to hear a band change completely, it's not always a bad thing, either.

It may not be an excuse in their case, since they were around for a long time before they released that one, but I think it's important for newer, younger bands to explore different sounds as they grow. Not everyone agrees with me, as a lot of people will complain if a new album doesn't sound just like an old album, but it's how I feel.

I've mentioned them before... Check out Thrice sometime if you've never listened to them. You'd be hard pressed to find two albums that sound like they completely carried over an old sound.

Granted, changing your sound doesn't always work. Like... I totally wtf'd at a new song I heard from The Offspring the other day. :(

Usually, I agree. Even with Zakk Wylde after that whole fiasco with "Pornstar Dancing" (I'm not going to link it, look it up if you're curious), I still like listening to Black Label Society. But with Metallica, I dunno. I can't listen to them the same. It's like it showed me the commercialism that I had been ignoring all this time. There are still a couple songs I like, especially the ones I can play, including "Low Man's Lyric". But for the most part... I just can't do it anymore. ESPECIALLY anything from the Black album. I don't let that get to me usually, but Metallica... I just can't.

I remember my 19th (21st), or rather I don't. Just the beginning and morning after.

I guess maybe I'm just a bit more forgiving because I don't have the coordination to have musical talent. (Well, I've never spent more than about ten minutes trying to learn, either, but that's not the point!)

And sadly, I know what you're talking about already. It was funny though, because the people on the "local" (based out of Columbus) rock station would make fun of it before they'd have to play it. (I just searched to double-check that I had the right thing and now I hate that someone could see that I searched that band's name. ; ; )
