Even without the crypto hype there still is this "fix" for GPUs where once they already produce purple artifacts and cause crashing (the card being effectively on the brink of it's live time) you'd stuff it in the oven at a certain temperature and the card would work again. Unfortunately the fast majority of the time it only lasts for a couple of weeks or months before you get artifacts and crashing again.

How would you want to know someone didn't do that with his card before selling it on ebay?
I have bought, used, and resold numerous preowned video cards and rarely came into issue with any of them. Those that have artifacts, yeah you're done eventually. However, there is nothing to be afraid of buying from trusted sites. For instance, buying off of Reddits /r/hardwareswap under Paypal's "Goods & Services" I've never been screwed from buying any hardware. I have over 50 trades there and the literally couple that I did have issue with Paypal refunded me my money.

I'm currently on an Asrock RX 7900 XT Taichi that I bought off Facebook (now that's risky) and over a year later I'm golden Ponyboy. It's one thing if you're not comfortable buying used if you don't know how to spot things or diagnose issues, but if you do, it's a no brainer to get stuff on the cheap when you can to further your build.

I so miss me standing inside Microcenter with flipflops, sweatpants, and a jacket waiting for FedEx/UPS to drop off GPU Shipments. (Fun fact: Was told they were not getting shipments anymore for the day when I got my card last year. Was leaving when I watched the FedEx guy walk in with the boxes, and I just turned around)
