Dandadan has more flaws than I thought at first.

It is also lame how, in an attempt to portrait the female protagonist “strong”, different of many bland of inexpressive female protagonists out there, but in the end, the supposed strength of her is represent by the worst a man could do.

I mean, sure, hand holding is like kindergarten stuff, but the way this hand holding was build, with the girl imposing it even without the relationship being properly established, and with the guy being visible uncomfortable with it made me question: “so it is fine a woman impose on man? Because the opposite (man imposing hand holding on a woman) is common sense is just a shade of the RP word.”.

So Yeah, the story is still good, and having moderately fun, but Im feeling a little disapointed when I think the hype I had with this

I really like Dandadan. Compared to all other modern shows, it's an absolute gem. Season 2 did not feel near as polished as season 1. I had to rewatch season 2 after it was all out to enjoy it. 1 week at a time is not the way to consume Dandadan or any other 20min show.

Your take on how Ken reacts to Momo is funny to me. You see it as he's uncomfortable, but I don't believe that's the case. It's not that he's uncomfortable, he's never experienced these things. The inner dialog between Ken and Momo hits home with me so much. I overthink absolutely everything too and I've had the exact thoughts/feelings Ken experiences.

Overall I enjoy the show, but I do think season 1 blew season 2 out of the water. Doesn't give me hope for the longevity of the show.

Durarara is pretty fun, and a very atypical kind of anime.

It gets pretty off the rails with the mixing in of Irish and Norse mythology, but the characters are entertaining and the story is bonkers, it's a fun watch.

Watching Dandadan as an adult just made me uncomfortable with all the child sexualization. I guess it's not that uncommon a concept in anime, but they took it a little too far for my taste. To be fair, I'm sure it's intended for a teenage audience like most shonen.

I have never seen this type of content as "child sexualization" but I think that my perspective is different either just from being a girl or having started dating my husband in high school.

If you depict an sexual assault, what level of seriousness must be attributed to the topic for it not to qualify as "sexualizing" the character being assaulted? or are such topic going to always sexualize the character?

Perhaps sexualizing children isn't the best way to characterize it, but it's clear the author(s) intended to place genitals and sex as prominent themes throughout the first season. I didn't read the manga (I don't think I even finished season 2), but I don't think there's any need to make the aliens concerned with genitals from a plot standpoint. Since the show is about children, it's a little creepy to make that into a primary plot point from my perspective.

Of course, there's still a spectrum. It's nowhere near as creepy and pedophilic as something like Big Mouth. I'm not a puritan advocating for censorship. There's nothing wrong with children watching these shows, either; they're obviously more relatable for people who are currently dealing with the struggles of puberty. Just not my thing, I guess.

The alien assaulting Momo was weird but you could even let it slide because it was purposelly exagerated cartoonish and you could say there wasnt that sexual malice on the aliens.

But the onsen scene with Momo, now that was an entire different beast. Those werent aliens nor fiends, but perverted malicious men assaulting in a very realistic way a young girl.

And it wasnt even draw like a joke. It was almost like a scene that could potentially happen irl.

This was awkward, and the story kinda of forgetting it like it wasnt a big deal was another no-no part for me. This exact scene in a more serious story could result in a life long drama for a woman. But in the story, Momo called them perverts, punched them and move on.

This is a fictional story, but they took too lightly one of the worst thing that can happen for a woman.

They've never really said how old the characters are, they could be 18 and seniors in HS, but I understand your point. I think that shock value is part of it. They probably are older students since Momo get's a job at a sexy themed coffee house.

There is also the point that this show might not be made for 35+ yo dorks like us... It's probably targeted to high school kids. Not like that point makes it right, but I'm 100% sure if you went back and watched some stuff from our childhoods you'll find all kinds of stuff that is considered unacceptable today and sometimes back then.

That is one part of Dandadan that I like. The randomness of it. It's not afraid to be stupid/silly, serious, dangerous, emotional, ect. That one episode in season 1 with Acrosilky's single mother legit made me cry

I still view these scenes as commentary on the culture they are trying to criticize. if you are uncomfortable or find the villains actions disgusting that is kinda the point right?

You can make the argument they are a poor criticism, but idk that it would be right to think they are so bad that they are simply supporting the actions as acceptable.

Things are progressing slowly but steadily.

One of the aspects Im somehow improving in this iteration is becoming more bold and less hoarder.

My usual instinct is to save my resources and only using a very low percentage of it (30% or less). As a result, I have a lot of resources but unsatisfying progress.

Now aggressively expending the extra resources, I emptied some of them, but Im progressing at a pace thats close to what I really want.

In the end, time is the greatest resource. I will never resupply my time, so hoarding is as safe but also as pointless. The secret is using you everything efficiently to achieve the fastest progress.

Then Im actually optimizing the usage of time

Im sorry to say - Nintendo has pulled the plug on Commando Dogs vs Alien Slugs... Seems that when Nintendo created Nintendogs, they patented every breed of dog alive, along with breeds not yet made. The good news is that we all have a commando dogs inside of us, they can never take that away... the bad news is now every cent I make goes to Nintendo.

Neighbors across the street having some sorta crazy thing happening.

Vocal screaming. Audible in my room across the street. Now wondering if the house I live in currently has no sound insulation whatsoever...

Then this girl starts banging on my kitchen window, which prompts my dogs to go off the chain barking. She's screaming something, she needs help or someone needs help. I'm straining to hear her specifics, she gets fed up and *walks* not runs back across the street. Some guy in a white SUV is yelling about, "You broke my back! GET IN GET IN!" I think the girl got in the SUV? I'm not sure what happened exactly, but the white SUV peeled out of the driveway.

3 Cop cars show up less than 5 mins later. 2 of them leave sirens blaring immediately. I'm guessing maybe some sorta domestic violence situation escalating into an abduction or something?

Need to get out of this neighborhood. Lost count of the times this specific house has had the cops called on them.
