Aside from that there's a few other factors, like people who suck at video games and have trouble getting past things, but still want to see the story. (Similar to when some people basically had to watch other people doing Coil to actually see the story back when cap was 50)
Some don't have money to buy games.
I mean, it's like asking why people watch sports rather than going out and playing them.
