FF8 draw system is its legacy, and its unfortunate. It had good dungeon design, pretty good cast, good story, the silly draw system just didn't work.

It was kind of a running joke that every classic FF had gotten the remastered/updated port treatment, except 8. I guess SE finally listened.

They also lost Kingdom Hearts 1 source code. I believe they never found it. I think they reverse engineered it from the game disc or something like that.

Its just so crazy to see a huge company just lose or delete the source code for their games lol I mean back then storage was at a premium but jeez, protect the asset! Silent Hill 3 was lost too or deleted.

Yea, nostalgia really hits us. Younger folk go for new flashy things/convenience (I.E. Mobile/F2P) while older folk go for games they've either played before or are similar.
been playing smaller games and retro recently (as opposed to tripple A games) to just kinda chill

They have done a good job with a few of the remasters, I got X/X-2 and XII, played through them all, the last two in Japanese (way better). And DQ11 looks like its going to be perfect for Switch.

There are very VERY few games I can get myself to replay and even then I almost have to force myself.
Not me, I can replay any old game if I liked the combat system. That's my only requirement. I have played through Star Ocean 3 countless times because the combat is just addictive.
You are at best a B-.
