It doesn't reset as far as I know, that's the point of the short cuts you open as you go.

Went to a Giant camp, put difficulty on Legendary. Two Giants and three mammoths on me. A Blood Dragon and a Saber Cat joins in.
I'm using an untempered, unenchanted Dragonbone Battleaxe because I'm skilling Two-handed. All these things attacking me at once but I have a ring that was enchanted to the point that I'm pretty much invulnerable. That dragon and saber cat probably regret joining in now. I beat it!
Never doing that again...

Oh, also. I'm sure most know this but some may not; if you hit bugs with a weapon, they'll die and their alchemy ingredient will fall to the ground.

Wrong. I get to the marketplace, Captain Lonely-Gale and Torbjorn Shatter-Shield are piles of ash for some reason. Hillevi Cruel-Sea, the Dunmer meat dude, Niranye, and two guards are laying dead, and the blacksmiths are now corpses roasting on their forge. All of my wat.
