But here's the thing, and I'm not saying this of anyone specific here, though I do know some people through XI and online that this applies to:
You can't have that attitude and complain that you can't find "the right person" or "people to hang with" or whatever.
At some point you have to either accept how niche your interests are relative to those around you.
Trust me, growing up I was a pretty angry kid because everyone liked baseball and football and no one *** understood why I was so fascinated with Tolkien and all the other nerdy ***I was into.
I just feel like this is a source of a lot of the derision and bitterness you see with certain subcultures in our country.
Like guys who can't stand that most girls don't like Rush and get mad about it.
Don't really agree, at all. I will agree that people need to realize that most people sucks and the sooner they realize that the better.

Some of those armor designs outright do not "fit" into the 14 aesthetic though...
And some of them are too nude, or borrow to much from other things, Like the one at the bottom, it looks like its borrowed design from the Anime/Novel Fate Franchise.
Some of them are "Too silly" to be proper armor, (the Gobbue and bucket)
Some of them scream Dark souls designs.

They do have joke sets like the chocobo/vanu/vath sets and the goobbue would fit with them
But as a serious tanking set I prefer something that looks like proper armor and is practical
