My main Pokemon love is gen1, I tolerate part of gen2, but past that and I just don't care anymore.
Gen1 is my <3. (Even then like half of those pokemon I don't enjoy).

I liked Gen2 the best, after Gen2 it seems like they started beating a dead horse. I do like a few Pokémon from Gen3 though, like the Gardevoir line and Milotic.

There are too many builds, but the absolute best (and most broken) set; at least from my experience:
- Spore
- Lock-on
- Sheer Cold
- Skill Swap
It can destroy anything that doesn't have priority moves (Mach punch is the worst)
The worst pokémon for Smeargle to encounter is Primeape. It's a fighting type, fairly fast AND is immune to sleep. That extra turn you need to swap abilities will kill you on this pokémon.

Pokemon is weird for me. It's one of the few games that I'll just play to enjoy it and not try to be the most absolutely insane stats ever.

Probably part of what ruined beyond Gen1 for me, ***got too complicated.

I don't play competitively, or even try to get awesome stats.
Every pokémon playthrough for me goes like this:
1) Decide which 6 pokémon I want on my team and go with it
2) Pick the very first one that pops up; even if it happens to have the 'bad ability'. I don't bother with natures either.
3) Go through the game, beat the Elite four
4) Do the post-game stuff
5) If it's a new Gen, fill out the pokédex as much as possible :)
