The whole Zune vs ipod thing reminded me a lot of the whole VHS vs BetaMax thing. The Zune for all intents and purposes was a superior product and simply offered more than the ipod could at the time, but Apple is damn good at marketing and creating a cultural appeal to their products, regardless of how they function, or lack thereof.
