I don't think we should just pile up a bunch cause people want shinies.

Even for the Ack tournament, albeit I don't particularly like how it's structured, I am not against that one.

But that voting thing was pure highschool material..

I actually just posted the "suggest things! thread, and the two big points of emphasis for new badges are 1) they should be fairly rare, and 2) a sign of someone who's done something to advance the community.

That's pretty much high school in a nutshell in terms of cliques, it's everywhere and it's definitely here too.

If you didn't do something to gain a shitload of positive influence in the community, you won't really be remembered for much.

You really should stop to try and put yourself outside of it, you are not above any wrong behaviour ever.

As for manners, personally I am the exact same person here as I am irl...well, minus that here I'm actually chatty and irl I never speak of my own initiative ever, but if interviewed I'd speak in the same manner as I do here. I say what I think and actually believe that to do otherwise is a very counterproductive endeavour because it makes mutual understanding harder.

Not at all. He believed human actions are entirely motivated by selfish means. I believe the majority behaves poorly when accountability is removed, like online here as an example.

Rudeness none of you would ever try in real life due to the consequences for example. A racist might post on a YouTube video how a person did deserve to die etc. That same person locally where the death occurred would never say that out loud to the news crew at the scene of the accident though, because they know they would be utterly *** due to the accountability.

A racist posting on a youtube video? Try every 13 year old that discovered the internet. You better believe they would never say that IRL, because if they did their mom and dad would beat their *** six ways from Sunday.

Bringing up young users might be a good point. Those who grew up without the internet might be different from those who used it since an early age.
