Most modern anime sucks tbqh, and mostly because of western companies like Netflix interfering.
Animes have been ***for some time now, very few have been actually good in the past decade.
I see HxH being mentioned, I watched all the episodes on Netflix recently, it was complete garbage. As a very long time HxH reader, what did I find: characters removed entirely yet referenced in later episodes (thus making no sense), ***fight setups (systematic use of the "repeated hit" making it dull as ***), any and all nuances that second/third tier characters had were removed, some details are completely removed from the main characters too.
The censorship also makes no sense, let's censor some severed head and instead go all out on Hisoka's sexual urges for kids.
At least the manga went balls to the wall on both topics, clearly showing how extreme the depicted world is.
The OST? It ranged from forgettable to unfitting.
But god bless Kirua is so cool ugu and "OMG FINAL GON WAS SO COOL". *puke*
No, seriously, it was crap. It wasn't what the manga is about at all. That's not HxH, that's some Coca Zero HxH.
But this can be said about most animes that aren't original works. Why was Devilman Crybaby exceptionally good? Because it didn't try to ruin an existing manga by making an anime out of it that people with the attention span of a dead fish could spend their time on (and they actually did a good job, it helps) and find cool because "OMG LOOK AT THE GRAPHICS".
