Ebisu Fishing Rod Items

i went 1/1 on saber shoot... i wasnt even going for the rod at first i felt lu shang was good enough for me, my friend actually gave me 5 liks & 5 Gug as a gift. i didnt even have the belly quest active so after i did all the requirements to have the quest available the VERY FIRST FISH i ever traded was a Gug and got the Saber Shoot 1/1 lol... i began trading the liks and they where all duds... so i figured to myself "wow, if the items are this easy to get maybe i should go after this rod." i proceeded to sell my lu shang & about 5M in sellables so i had about 7-8M i figured if i buy the liks in bluk full inventory 80/80 and trade i was bound to get it within the 8M, so i did this and basically voided all my nin/sam gear at first. it this point i was obviously mad but i was so addicted to getting the last item i started selling more gear i sold all my blm which was about 18M spent 15M more then certain i would get something and got ***... i was furious brought my lu back. i JUST recently got serpent rumors so im in the process of trying to fish them up on PS2 >.>; i know im 0/1200+ on liks
after 600 i stopped counting but u can do the math i brought mostly all of them for 15k each and started buying them from someone with a contract deal for 10k each and i wasted about 23M on buying these things

moral: it anit always what it looks like...

1/440 Lik and 0/706 Gugs. I just recently started trying to get my last item again. Did the same as you Jovant, sold most of my gear worth anything to fund this, thinking I "should" get the item by now. Grats to all of you who got it quick, but this is driving me nuts!

Hi guys the question i always ask myself is: is it damn again worth it to work for this legendary rod? cause i see soo often ppl having this rod, and what they do? they fish for 700 gil fishes to sell them to npc, which i can do with lu shangs also.

or selling liks and gugrus but its not worth it in my eyes, cause they dont sell pretty well...so you end up with more gil a day when you npc your fish.

well the big fishes which sells pretty good to npc like matsya ( only catchable with the incredible tough to get baits hahah thank you SE good job)or crocodilos (new item only can be fished in abyssea hahaha very funny SE good job too) are very hard to get still with ebisu, and so you still end up with the same gil, when you npc your fish....

And the big gil fishes like black sole, noble lady etc... can be fished with lu shangs also...so i am really demotivated when i think of this things.. what do you guys think? and i think SE should add some new items for ebisu to make ebisu for fishermans more attractive to get...

hi guys, dont listen to this rumors some idiots post in some threads. i got my 2 items after trading 30 gugs and 52 liks. i think + - 30 its ok but never 1000 or more...

You are the idiot, many people have gone 1000+. Some will get lucky, and some won't.

Exactly. Hey guys don't listen to the rumors some people post that just cause they only took 100 total it's impossible for anyone to take more.

Remember I went 1/1 on Kclub so it's droprate has to be 10% at the worst :) (Ok that's a lie I've solo'd it at least 80 times by now and at least 30-40 duo/trios and nothing but I do know people who have lol)

Btw personally 337 Gugs, 12 Lik. Yes I kept a record. A guy in my Ls was having a bet with me if I'd hit before 350 or something lol

However long ago I made this thread... I'm still trying to get Liks to drop the Opal Silk.. fml. I'm around 0/121 now.

I'd so much rather go high on Lik than Gugru.

Took me all of about 1 hour to catch the 12 Lik I needed at 78 lol.

I gave up trying to catch gugs at that low. Then when I was 100 with fishing support I would be lucky to get 3 an hour. Often I'd get 0 in an hour. Like I'd go in break first one. End up sending it to rabao get it back take next boat and same thing happens lol.

I hated fishing Gugru even after I got the Ebisu rod. I got excited after each catch!

i just started the day before yesterday fishing up Lik's 1/45 in the morning yesterday and then 1/12 on Gugrusaurus at about 11pm yesterday start to finish fishing about 14hrs :)
This was for a friends character i already had mine.

0/850 on my gugs.. can you turn in fish for me since your lucky? k thanks

After seeing all this I'm pretty sure I got darn lucky. Went 1/9 on the Lik item, and 1/60ish on the Gugru item.

Still don't have the GP for the Rumors yet...but I will tomorrow :)

Is this possible? I thought you had to be at a certain level and have various GP stuff in order to even turn in the fish for these?

If not I am totally doin it wrong.

Just need to be able to get inside the belly quest active to gain the items need to be higher with gp to get the rod iirc

You need Fishing 88 + Serpent Rumors (100k GP Key item) to be able to start fishing them yourself. However yo turn them in you only need to do a few quests in Selbina which I believe only require Fishing ~30
I did this myself and had the items since fishing 48.

Do these items ever *** drop? Seriously, I know it's not bad compared to some, but 0/143 on lik is just getting HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE..it's a waste of so much potential gil. Curse all of you going 1/10 and ***! :p

Friend went 1/10 on saber shoot 1/70 odd on silk and that day I murdered him :P
