Anyone else have their xbox randomly decide that a game disc is unreadable, or have certain parts of the game not load properly/at all?

I love the xbox live archives much better than I do playstation store or home. I also enjoy many xbox 360 exclusive games but right now I'm worried about having to dish out $100+ to have MS repair my xbox or having to buy a new HDD. Not sure which is responsible for my system *** up.
