Reminiscing. I remember back in 05, I needed help with the Tower fight for AF Head, but no one in my LS was strong enough. I talked to a random guy about it, and soon enough he was taking me up the tower with a six-man party. I can't remember his name, but after a hard fought battle I was happy to finally complete the set. Fast forward to 08, I had been doing Dynamis, and (after two dc's as it dropped in the pool!) got the Abyss head from Xarcabard. I was happy again, and I felt a need to return to the tower, chill, and take a screenshot. I started using ffxiah.com in 2010, and my profile picture has been the one in the top right ever since. Eight years later, I finally updated the pic. I sit in the tower as we speak, remembering all the times anyone thanked me for playing the job well. Remembering all the times I gave advice to new DRKs, and the times when better DRKs told me off for doing it wrong. Yes, this is another DRK screenshot, but it's also a story, one I will continue for the love of the job. I get emotional sometimes, (and I'm a writer), so I guess DRK suits me in that way . Now I just need to miss an Insurgency entirely and everything will be right with the world. The End.Reminiscing. I still can't believe I achieved this. I am so excited right now. It was a year ago I first started my journey, having quit in July, I never thought I'd be back to try and finish this off! Thank you to everyone that sold me cheap cinders, and for their support: Sechs, Tamoa, Failaras, Umbrat, Bratgurl, but especially you, Schizogamer. The result of an impulse to try to obtain Herkuleskeule. Personally, I found add-burning this guy to be easier than Podarge since there's no reason to dial down the DPS at any time during the fight. With NPC's and a Fast Cast set, keeping Reprisal up is easy enough and prevents the annoying Defense Down and Encumbrance from the auto-attacks and Riptide Eupnea, respectively. To be completely honest, this stunt is enabled by the adds around the area. Were they not flies or crabs, this would be much harder if not impossible. Cleared Eald'narche (N) solo on PLD/WHM without Trust NPC's. I was waiting for Vagary to start and needed something to do. Got bored, and thought I'd try for the Stun-SCH body. The actual fight itself is just long, but not necessarily hard. Considering he died within three seconds of timeout, I'm hesitant to call this an accomplishment at all. Anyway, the key is to shield swap for nukes and to TP fast enough to WS at least once per nuke in the final phase before you shield swap again. Also, despite the appearance, all of his TP moves in the final phase are physical, and their effects are negated by blocking. It's moments like these which makes FFXI a special game. Where fans of the series can bunch together and overcome obstacles. We grinded for over a year to become strong enough to tackle what the game has to offer. We're not hardcore players, none of us are elitist, we don't show off and we always have time for those who need help. We win and lose like a family. When we lose, we come together to figure out why. I've always hated having to lead stuff, but these guys make it easy. I've always found the best group of players are those who do what you want, before you even thought of asking them too. They take it upon themselves to do what is right given the situation, and that's due to practice, it's due to listening. It's due to wanting the best for everyone there. We don't have a LS bank. We don't have a points system. We don't have hoarders, we pass items/gear to whoeever needs it most. And we're not closed off to the world, we'll take anyone who is willing to do what they can to win. I already said my thanks in our post in the Cerberus sub-forum. So when someone says you need to be on a populated server to make an Aeonic, let it be known that it doesn't matter how many players are on the server, so long as you can find a nice, small group of players who want to succeed, then anything is possible. It might take longer, but the journey is always better than the destination. We wear our Aeonics with pride, and we'll keep going as long as this remains fun. Peace out.
