Because people who can draw well from a reference don't exist. Also I rarely draw directly on photoshop, I usually draw on paper first, scan it in then open it up on photoshop. Create a new layer, select the size and shape of brush wanted, then draw over.

Result is sharp lineart, this was 9 layers worth of it.

Also Hippos ingame have no where near that detail, lol
