I'm a sad panda...

I just caught a 3 year friend using third-party tools, so I reported him to the STF.
I don't care about windowers, but bots piss me off- and he knows that.
Serves him right, but I lose another friend...

~Yote

Perhaps you would be less sad if he was still playing... yeah you might be a little mad at him but you still got a friend. Now even if he still did play somehow doubt hed still be your friend. Btw how did you catch him?

I saw him in whitegate this morning before work.
So, I sent him tell after tell and got no response.

However, I saw him doing teleports and people bowing to him.
I assumed the best of my friend, so I let him teleport and come back and tried to tell him again.
No response.
Hmm...

I shouted: /sh {Teleport-Dem} {Can I have it?} 1k
BAM! Instant invite from him.

Not to be diswayed, I accepted and tried to talk to him- nothing.

So, I disbanded and shouted again:
/sh {Teleport-Dem} {Can I have it?} 1k (DONT INVITE ME I'M TESTING FOR A BOT)

BAM! Instant invite from him again.

/sigh
I have to say, he wasn't much of a friend if he has compromised his integrity and cheated.

~Yote

Not sure how you can put a personality trait and friendship together? Your friendship so shallow that its based on having the exact same values or otherwise gtfo? I mean he did nothing to you.

So if you saw your friend cheating on a female friend of yours, you wouldn't say anything? Sure it's not effecting you, but it's still *** up and not right. Don't let friendship *** with ethics.

I'd say something to the friend, it's *** up, blah blah, you guys know the drill. If he persisted, I'd tell him I'm gonna tell her...if that doesn't stop him, relationship is over already.

I don't know if I would have reported right off the bat, but I would have definitely told him if I caught him doing that ***again, I would. Although, then again, robots don't have feelings.

But honestly, it's moot...if not Yote, someone else woulda reported eventually. So the only difference is the originator.

I agree with Haseyo 100%.
The second I saw him botting, my integrity wouldn't let me act any less.
If he is an honorable person, than he will accept the punishment and move on.

Just yesterday, I got a real-life DMV letter for a court summons, because I ran a red light.
I accept the penalty and I will pay the consequences, because of my integrity.
We all make mistakes, we are only human, it's how we handle the justice that is dealt tells people of our character.

I can say that if he accepts whatever punishment they give him and he move on, I will still be his friend.

1. Not saying shouldnt do anything but yeah can still be friends
2. The magnitude is way different
3. Yes it is affecting you unless of course you dont give 1 ***about your friends feelings
4. What do you accomplish by telling. You shatter there illusions and make them all sad and weepy with a side potential of them lashing out at you the messenger yays
5. The real point I was trying to make is cheating at ffxi doesnt make you a bad friend. That'd be like saying criminals have friends cause there ethics are screw therefor not worth your time

There are legit tele-taxis out there, and this bot is basically taking away from them WITHOUT LIFTING A FINGER. That actually does effect people. Sure it may not be Yote in particular, but it's about morale.

Your logic is "Don't snitch" which is so 4th grade.

Don't snitch and dealing with things at lowest lvl possible is the one of the most successful ways of doing it... and not to mention more or less the official policy of the Navy. But yeah I'm pretty sure they let 4th graders in all the time

Anyone ever see that flash video of a little taru that meets a whm taru friend, and gets seperated from them? And then it shows him going through the game progressing and eventually meeting up with the whm taru from the very begining of his vanadiel career?
I'd like to watch it again.

You're in the 8th grade? o.o

Look at it this way - Teletaxi's pay $12.99 a month to play this game, like everyone else. A bot comes along, effecting their way of obtaining gil by doing nothing. That's effecting a lot of $12.99's a month by illegitly teleporting people for money. You mean to tell me that someone just shouldn't say anything?

Sorry assumed you were at least 8th grade but judging by your reading comprehension i'll have to take that down to 2nd which makes me wonder how you know 4th grade attitudes.

I don't see where you are going with this.
I'm just taking what you initially said, how basically it wasn't effecting Yote, so he shouldn't of said anything, which is a childish way of looking at a situation.

Dasva, don't pull any "sea lawyer" stuff here.
I've been in the Navy for more than 12 years and have seen everything.
The navy deals with most situations at the lowest level, but when someone is caught drunk on duty, they go straight to captain's mast. Do not pass go, collect 1/2 pay for 60 days and have restriction.

You ever been to guam? I knew a guy came to work drunk pretty much everyday. But he did his job well no one really cared much. More importantly drunk on duty and botting are leagues apart in severity. Would you see someone going straight to mast for telling an officer off? No but by the letter of the law could they yes.
Again I in no way condone botting but seriously there are other ways to deal with it. And if you wanna sadface about it remember it was you who might have gotten him banned and you who made him dislike you.

How is there another way of handling bots? xD
Either sit back like a punk and let them wander around or get them the *** out of the server.

Or did you have the "Smack him on the hand and say 'that's a no no!'" plan in mind?

I beleive someone else suggested talking to them about. Not to sound corny but communication is key to maintaining relationships of any kind. Threats always work too. Also i beleive suggested

Yes, been to guam. I saw one of my hardest working guys come to work drunk.
You know what we did, we took him to mast, suspended his pay and got him into a program that HELPED him.
Because standing by and letting him drink himself to death was painful to watch.

And yes, I would see someone go to mast for telling an officer off. I am an officer.
The chief's mess took someone to mast that told me off while drunk.
What he said didn't offend me, but to the chiefs, it was the principle of the matter.

People MUST be held accountable for their actions.

I am sad about my friend, but that doesn't mean I won't hold him accountable.
THAT is the level of my integrity.

Relationships? It's a *** online friend, lol.

And why should anyone talk to them? (if they even respond, har har)
And what threat? Bots know what the hell is not allowed in the game.

That's like picking up the ball in a soccer game and telling the ref "WHAT DO YOU MEAN I CAN'T PICK THIS UP, I WAS NEVER TOLD WHEN THIS MATCH STARTED."

Rules are rules. You break, you pay.

I'm guess service fleet? Submariners tend not to be that hardcore.
Lol already was guessing you were hardcore khaki mindset but yep this just kinda makes it clear. Btw most the blue shirts don't buy into all that. I may or may not have seen some pretty shady stuff done in the interest of maintaining the status quo and/or get the job done/ship underway. And yes even the Chain of command has approved/supported it often when they knew. People are human if we go about holding everyone completely fully accountable for everything they did wed all be in a lot of trouble. Oh and we are intelligent animals.

asaan mga pinoy? turned into drama llama....

HM3 here. lol. and this is just a game. I'll throw in my 2 cents in. Not going to argue over anyones opinion tho.

There is a risk in botting, and eventually those who do bot will get caught. If the matter doesn't affect me personally, then I don't really mind. I've seen full HNM LS's that require you to bot. And also there are packet bots out there.. 1 per server that run up to 3000 dollars. If you want to jeopardize 3-5 years of work then go ahead and bot and get caught.

And during my time in the navy, we were kinda told don't screw over your shipmates. lol~

Yall need to chill and get a beer and play. Few years back my friends on vent made a drinking game with dynamis. (in the days of wiping to most of the pulls) Wiping, AF drop, 100 currency drop, etc... take a shot.

And I believe that an officer's viewpoint is way different than an enlisted.
Enforcers vs. Forced upon.

I think that it comes down to person's integrity when dealing with something like that. Granted, I think Yote might have reported anyone that he felt was a bot. He's helping to get rid of people who are clearly violating the agreement laid out to us when we signed on.

The fact that it was his friend, online or not, just makes the process hit home a bit harder than normal.

Yes, there is the whole "don't snitch" rule that some people follow, but that is situational. And unfortunately, once you apply the "situational law" to any given rule, you eventually find a way to make infraction excusable due to various situations.

That's the reason people get away with breaking so many laws now. Welcome to loopholes and situational technicalities. So much easier to follow a rule just as it's laid out.
