Smithing Ring Broken??

While wearing the Smithing ring, im still able to HQ items. I dont know if its a glitch or not, but I do need the NQ items for synergy but I keep HQing. Has anybody had this situation?

A) Was it desynth? I don't think desynth works with the ring.

B) Did the synth have any subcrafts?

was not a desynth and does not have a subcraft.

They do, unless SE changed something.

Maybe this is a stupid question, but was it a smithing recipe?

I had to double check and yes, its smithing. I tried to contact a GM but no GM as of yet.

Other than the glitch (which would be my guess), perhaps there's an unlisted subcraft on the recipie. That is, there actually is one, but wiki/ffxiah doesn't know about it. Anything else I can think of just seems too far out there to be a cause.

Even if that was the case though, I'd still have thought the NQ ring would force it, even if there was a subcraft ... sounds like a glitch to me (possibly even item-specific).

I just didn't think they worked on Desynthing.

Even if the subcraft HQ's the Smithing never will. Anything that's Smithing main can't HQ, regardless of subcraft. That's not it... I'm going with Blazza's post really. I haven't noticed my ring glitching.

I never had to use a ring to NOT HQ something - I get that ability naturally!!!

Well, actually there are plenty of cheap low level desynths that are confirmed as one craft only, only need to get one HQ to confirm that ring DOESN'T work with desynths. Of course, you'd have to get a lot more NQ's to prove without reasonable doubt that it DOES work and that you weren't just having a ***day for desynths.

I meant I have no easy way to check.
