Now, i can only speak for my country, but i don't see why it would be too different. Have you ever heard of the "poor workers" ? But, yeah, that is *a* reality...
I do not know a single person that works 2-3 jobs and is still really hard off after all minumum wage in america is $20 dollars. I mean yeah they are not rich but they can afford a house a decent car and to go have fun. The rally poor people are just lazy. The system is abused by unemployed people. I could make more money from the government if i did not work as opposed to me working. But i cant just sit at home bored. Others on the other hand dont care. The typical person with food stamps, and no im not being a racist here, but are Trailer Park Whites who cannt read with kids and they come into the store wearing name brand stuff like baby phat with a roll of at least a few hundred dollars in their wallet from selling meth or crank. So why in the hell would they work if they are better off just having fun?

Answer me this one question:

Who is going to pay for this?

your paying for insurance now aren't you? now take the amount you pay for insurance and pay it to the GVT instead

oh snap that was expensive

I rather pay for a Guaranteed service then 1 that can potentially tell you to *** off, xxx reason claim denied.

You might need to pay more taxes but gawd that will not kill you or push you into the poor house, stop exaggerating taxes.

If you think about how much you pay health insurance companies compared to what you will pay for taxes, your saving a lot @_@ or is that jus Canada speaking

No, your health care isn't free.

And honestly, I don't care how good the plan is, or how many people it will "save" the government needs to gtfo of our lives.

For everyone else from other countries that already have the government running their lives I don't expect you to understand, but for the people that are actually from here to willingly give up your freedoms is almost treason to me.

This government and all their mandated *** can kiss my ***.

Yeah I don't understand how people think they get things free.... either your neighbor with a job pays for you, or the government borrows/prints money. Neither option is free or without consequence. :)

Ok since I can't quote an entire box Seraph.Rafik. I'm gonna label a few things that make you sound dumb for saying the government wants to run your life.

Page 30 Sec 123 of HC bill: THERE WILL BE A GOVT COMMITTEE that decides what treatments/benefits you get.

Would you rather have a board of directors who are only interested in the business and money of health care?

Page 58 HC Bill: Govt will have real-time access to individuals' finances & a 'National ID Health card' will be issued! (Papers please!)

Your saying you already don't have health cards...?

Page 429 Lines 10-12: An "advanced care consultation" may include an ORDER for end-of-life plans.. (AN ORDER TO DIE FROM THE GOVERNMENT?!?)

What the ***? It's called hospices dumbass

Page 425 Lines 22-25, 426 Lines 1-3: The Govt provides an "approved" list of end-of-life resources; guiding you in death. (Also called 'assisted suicide.')(Sounds like Soylent Green to me.)

Once again, hospices.

Page 253 Line 10-18: The Govt sets the value of a doctor's time, profession, judgment, etc. (Literally-- the value of humans.)

Your *** health insurance companies already do that, except they deny your claims when the time comes.

Page 354 Sec 1177: The Govt will RESTRICT enrollment of 'special needs people!' Unbelievable!

As if your current system doesn't already restrict it.

Page 489 Sec 1308: The Govt will cover marriage and family therapy. (Which means Govt will insert itself into your marriage even.)

Your HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE, the Government inserting itself into counseling?

I do not know a single person that works 2-3 jobs and is still really hard off. I mean yeah they are not rich but they can afford a house a decent car and to go have fun. The rally poor people are just lazy.

A two parent, zero population growth household containing two full time jobs at minimum wage is just above the poverty line- not a lot of fun having there, especially when things like "being healthy" is a luxury.

I think you greatly overestimate how much welfare provides.

Glaciont, no point in arguing with you. You just call people retards.

Sure dont let the doctors decide what treatments you need, cause the government knows best.

Your bank accounts are going to be linked with yous Health Insurance cards.

Let the government decide who they going to kill and when.

Why do you care so much, do you live in the US, is this bill going to change your life?

Still not taking sides. (I'm actually very ambivalent about the bill itself, so that's not hard for me.) But it's interesting to watch some core conservatives break ranks over how this whole thing went down.

Bush speechwriter and conservative columnist David Frum today:

DavidFrum said:
Conservatives and Republicans today suffered their most crushing legislative defeat since the 1960s.

It’s hard to exaggerate the magnitude of the disaster. Conservatives may cheer themselves that they’ll compensate for today’s expected vote with a big win in the November 2010 elections. But:

(1) It’s a good bet that conservatives are over-optimistic about November – by then the economy will have improved and the immediate goodies in the healthcare bill will be reaching key voting blocs.

(2) So what? Legislative majorities come and go. This healthcare bill is forever. A win in November is very poor compensation for this debacle now.

So far, I think a lot of conservatives will agree with me. Now comes the hard lesson:

A huge part of the blame for today’s disaster attaches to conservatives and Republicans ourselves.

At the beginning of this process we made a strategic decision: unlike, say, Democrats in 2001 when President Bush proposed his first tax cut, we would make no deal with the administration. No negotiations, no compromise, nothing. We were going for all the marbles. This would be Obama’s Waterloo – just as healthcare was Clinton’s in 1994.

Only, the hardliners overlooked a few key facts: Obama was elected with 53% of the vote, not Clinton’s 42%. The liberal block within the Democratic congressional caucus is bigger and stronger than it was in 1993-94. And of course the Democrats also remember their history, and also remember the consequences of their 1994 failure.

This time, when we went for all the marbles, we ended with none.

Could a deal have been reached? Who knows? But we do know that the gap between this plan and traditional Republican ideas is not very big. The Obama plan has a broad family resemblance to Mitt Romney’s Massachusetts plan. It builds on ideas developed at the Heritage Foundation in the early 1990s that formed the basis for Republican counter-proposals to Clintoncare in 1993-1994.

Barack Obama badly wanted Republican votes for his plan. Could we have leveraged his desire to align the plan more closely with conservative views? To finance it without redistributive taxes on productive enterprise – without weighing so heavily on small business – without expanding Medicaid? Too late now. They are all the law.

No illusions please: This bill will not be repealed. Even if Republicans scored a 1994 style landslide in November, how many votes could we muster to re-open the “doughnut hole” and charge seniors more for prescription drugs? How many votes to re-allow insurers to rescind policies when they discover a pre-existing condition? How many votes to banish 25 year olds from their parents’ insurance coverage? And even if the votes were there – would President Obama sign such a repeal?

We followed the most radical voices in the party and the movement, and they led us to abject and irreversible defeat.

There were leaders who knew better, who would have liked to deal. But they were trapped. Conservative talkers on Fox and talk radio had whipped the Republican voting base into such a frenzy that deal-making was rendered impossible. How do you negotiate with somebody who wants to murder your grandmother? Or – more exactly – with somebody whom your voters have been persuaded to believe wants to murder their grandmother?

I’ve been on a soapbox for months now about the harm that our overheated talk is doing to us. Yes it mobilizes supporters – but by mobilizing them with hysterical accusations and pseudo-information, overheated talk has made it impossible for representatives to represent and elected leaders to lead. The real leaders are on TV and radio, and they have very different imperatives from people in government. Talk radio thrives on confrontation and recrimination. When Rush Limbaugh said that he wanted President Obama to fail, he was intelligently explaining his own interests. What he omitted to say – but what is equally true – is that he also wants Republicans to fail. If Republicans succeed – if they govern successfully in office and negotiate attractive compromises out of office – Rush’s listeners get less angry. And if they are less angry, they listen to the radio less, and hear fewer ads for Sleepnumber beds.

So today’s defeat for free-market economics and Republican values is a huge win for the conservative entertainment industry. Their listeners and viewers will now be even more enraged, even more frustrated, even more disappointed in everybody except the responsibility-free talkers on television and radio. For them, it’s mission accomplished. For the cause they purport to represent, it’s Waterloo all right: ours.
