Constantly Logged Out

Vegetto, for the sake of clearing up worries with those downloader add-ons, check out Jdownloader. It runs as a separate program, can be installed or run as an .exe and does all that jazz, but covers multiple sites, including rapidshare, megaupload, blahblah, and has the option of monitoring links that you copy and paste so that it can start checking and downloading without you having to ask the program. Pretty hot shite.

Still having this problem and it's extremely annoying to have to use google chrome specifically for this site, when I use firefox for everything else.

Yeah ditto. This started happening again about a week or two ago.

Happens for me too, me and my wife log in here but use different computers, if that could cause it..

Other then that, I have tried clearing cookies, and I only use one computer and one browser, and no proxy.

I occasionally get logged out, but it would be exaggeration if I said constantly. I am unable to recreate this bug but I would really like to solve it. If any of you could recreate the logout, give me the step-by-step.

Also, a short questionnaire for those experiencing this logout problem constantly.

What browser(s) do you use and any add-ons?

Wipe your cookies for ffxiah.com and relogin.

I use Firefox with Adblock plugin, I only ever browse FFXIAH from my laptop, and I wipe my cookies once a week but the login problem persists now and then between that time.

I don't really know how to recreate it as I'm not sure when it's doing it; it is a bit random. If I figure anything out that might be causing it I'll let you know.

Firefox w/ a lot of add ons but only ones to effect this site noscript and adblock (though no script allows this site).

Same computer every time, but it's a laptop, so I'm at a number of different isps.

As for clearing cookies, I've tried that and as for how often, constantly isn't an exaggeration. I can clear cookies, log in, and by the time I navigate forums > sub forum > topic > ready to reply, I will be logged out and have to hit refresh and it'll log me back in (maybe), if not I have to try 3-4 times to get the page to come with me logged in so I can reply. Then when I reply i can be logged out directly after and have to hit refresh or navigate some more before I can reply to the next thread.

It's really frustrating, so I've been using google chrome in it's place, but that is annoying too, since I use it for nothing else and have to have it open specifically for 1 site only.

hmm, so your method of logging back in is to keep refreshing? and it works?

Yes. I can go to log in and log in again, and even there I don't get logged back in every time. Sometimes I have to do that multiple times, too.

After dyna, I'll use cam studio and record the process so you can see exactly what I mean.

I don't literally get logged out that much; never during a new session either (that is, if I sign in anew, I never get logged out until the next time the browser is open at the earliest.) But say if I'm idle for more than about thirty minutes, it sometimes logs me out. Other times I've gone to the homepage, refreshed it and been logged out. The circumstances under which I do get logged out is just really random, which is why I haven't got a clue what would be causing it.

I'll make a little note of what I'm doing the next few times it logs me out and get back to you about if you like.

Oh, and whilst we're on the subject of problems with the site, I still don't get an alert in the top right when I have new messages. It's not a biggy to me now since I've set it to notify me on any new private messages; but that's a workaround and not a fix.

Just thought I'd let you know. Personally I'm not bothered about that anymore, but there were others who were having the same problem iirc.

Well there was a problem but I think I fixed it a couple days ago. Not sure if you are referring to something that has been addressed already.

I did not get the little "New Message!" red text thingy for that PM you just sent. Got the e-mail notice though. Strange that I got the notice in Google Chrome. That means it's something to do with Firefox. I disabled adblock the other day and got Urial to PM me, but it still didn't come up then.

Something to do with my Firefox settings obviously ain't quite right...

Keep in mind that when you read your ffxiah inbox, the red "new" will go away. I am guessing you saw it in chrome and opened the ffxiah inbox before you did a page refresh in firefox.

Didn't go through the first time, going again now. Will be a few mins.

I knew I had a private message because of the email that pinged up in Google Talk (whilst I was typing one of those essays in the RDM/NIN thread out); opened Chrome and logged in, "New Message!" in red in the top right of the member's menu. Logged out, closed Chrome, came back to Firefox, no new message notice. Clicked the inbox and it said "New! From Scragg, Testing, Test"; and the background was white and the title was bold.

Which means it's my Firefox, because why would Chrome work if it was a server side issue. I can't imagine it being a compatability issue, when hundreds of people using Firefox see it just fine.

This software successfully allows you to launch ffxi on capable machines from portable media. I use it to play at school from my 16GB flashdrive. Also useful if you like to have other apps handy like Photoshop or Microsoft Office. Have fun with this one :D
