FFXI LGBT Community, who are you?

Do you guys like obscure names, traditional names? Names of a particular nationality or religious names? Do you guys like your own name? I like my name.
Edward is a meaningful name imo I'm not picky on names, though I do hate the over-played ones or ones that people choose just because its popular or its from a book [coughtwilightcough]. I hate my name with a passion and I can only hope my daughter doesn't hate her name when shes older.

Typical names here in the United States are my favourite. Shawn, Brian, Ryan, Evan, etc. I do like the name 'Samwise' a lot though too. Ryan.... That name makes me sad =/

I hate my name with a passion and I can only hope my daughter doesn't hate her name when shes older. Lol this reminds me of Picabo Street pronounced 'Peek-a-boo'. She's a former Olympic skier for USA. "Picabo's 'rents decided to let Picabo choose her own name when she was old enough so for the first two years of her life, she was called "Little Girl." When Picabo was two, her mother took her to get a US passport for a trip to Mexico. When Dee tried to write down "Little Girl" as daughter's first name, the guy at the passport office gave her a funny look and told her she had two weeks to give her daughter a "real name." So, Stubby and Dee named their daughter Picabo (after a small village in Idaho.) When she was four, Picabo's parents said she could change her name but she decided to keep it." I'm skilling up club on BLU I want Black Halo :O
My name is Jeffrey, and I dont really care for it. I went by my middle name, Ryan for awhile, but I just couldnt get used to it. People would call me Ryan and I wouldnt realize they were talking to me. So I just gave up on it lol.

I stopped because I decided I really did like my first name, Kyle, after-all. Hades.Ustav said: Citag what aprt of cali do u live in? I have an obscure English name: Dorian. Which I'm not fond of, because it's a "repeater" name.
Example: Starbucks Chick: What name on the coffee? Me: Dorian. Starbucks Chick: Come again? Me: Dorian? Starbucks Chick: Damian? Me: No... On the other hand, a lot of people seem to think it's a cool name, so I guess I'm okay with it. My legal name in Japan is Ryuji. The -ji, like an -ichi or a -taro or a -suke, is just a male numeral suffix so it's usually dropped, except to differentiate me from my brother. Unfortunately: - I don't look Japanese, so even though I grew up there, people would look at me funny if I used it here, - Nobody over here can pronounce "Ryu" correctly anyway - People just assume it's a reference to the Street Fighter character, which used to piss me off. I long since gave up fighting it, (witness my forum avatar), and now if someone comments I just threaten to energy blast them instead. I'm Joel, I hate it but both my middle names are objects and I couldn't get used to my last name D;

I get called Jack a lot. I had a nick-name in high school though from all the girls, "Strawberry Zachary". Lulz. Also, a lot of people can't pronounce Japanese correctly here. Even on this game. xD It pains me to hear people call Usukane as OO-soo-kane. Or the Hagun as huh-GUN. I could get into more, but... <.<;; Lakshmi.Jaerik said: I have an obscure English name: Dorian. I used to just go by Jeff, until I got so sick and tired of poeple saying Josh? Jason? Joe? Paul? Paul? Really? Yes I've had a Paul once. So far no one has confused Jeffrey for anything else. I just get the "im so cool im going to ask him if he spells his name Je or Geo" Hades.Ustav said: bah no one lives in socal Lots of people live in Socal! lol jk jk I'd move to san diego in a heart beat though.

I've actually met a couple in RL, ever since there was an epic "Who's in SoCal?" thread a few months back that hit many pages.
I actually found out that the dude behind the register at the CVS I frequent next to my gym, and had been buying stuff from for years, was one of our users. My name is Toni, but I wished my parents would had put "y" instead of "i".... cause for example in jabber (aka XMPP [Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol]) few ppl thought I'm a girl~

For fun I always try to spell his name in every variation possible. Shawn, Shaun, etc. For some reason a lot of people (in Phoenix at least) think Sean is pronounced "Scene". It drives him crazy! :)~ |
