In the end it all goes to the "You can't prove he doesn't exist" argument and that's all fine and dandy to me, as my claim, which is correct, is that it is all just a theory.
Basically it is just an unproven opinion, but we all have the right to an unproven opinion i guess.
Sorta but it completely contradicts convientional logic. Why do you beleive 1 unproven thing but not others? Can't really use the you can't prove otherwise argument unless you actually believe everything until proven otherwise.
LOL i like the pic you posted. I understand everyone has there own views, and i am cool with that. WHen i tell my 5 yr old son i love him it would be hard for me to show him what love is in a "proof" standpoint, but i could just tell him i love him because i buy his clothes and food and take care of him and stuff. But would we truly understand the answer i would give him?
He may or may not understand. You show it everyday. All the time. At that point it is up to him to believe you or to understand you are. You can't really show someone you love them without being there and well showing them.

My mom claims she loves. I know she exist and she actually says it. Or at least did the last time she actaully spoke to me or my dad. Hell she probably even believes it. She certainly does not show it though. And it certainly is not true.

So basically Non believers need proof for God to exist. Proof to them, cant be given. One reason some of us beleive there is a God is because there is no proof of nonexistence. Vice Versa?
This discussion has hit a wall so peace out from here.

But you see it isn't about non-believers are this way just about this. It is the normal thought process. Do you believe everything that cannot be proven? If not you can't use that as your reason for believing 1 thing that can't. Can't have your cake and eat it too!

"In fact, "atheism" is a term that should not even exist. No one ever needs to identify himself as a "non-astrologer" or a "non-alchemist." We do not have words for people who doubt that Elvis is still alive or that aliens have traversed the galaxy only to molest ranchers and their cattle. Atheism is nothing more than the noises reasonable people make in the presence of unjustified religious beliefs."

Only when around family but it has nothing to do with religion. More like I don't like commercialism or fighting in lines or deciding to give random gifts to people who probably wont like them much while they do the same for you at certain times of the year.

***, only other reason I go shopping on Black Fridays is for the violence. Of course, me and my lady work as a team, I run in and get a hold of bigger things we planned to buy, while she runs around with the cart for smaller stuff.

great exercise.

Has nothing to do with religion? Really? The whole idea behind Christmas is to celebrate the birth of Christ. (Hence, CHRISTmas.) The three wise men offered gifts to him when he was born. You think that scientists just decided one day to exchange gifts on Christmas? It has a religious background, and you're practicing that in the most mundane way as possible. Just because it's been commercialized (what HASN'T been commercialized?) doesn't mean the roots simply disappear.

meh, doesnt matter which one, they're all HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE.

As for Christmas, Jesus was born on March 29th, look it up.

Yeah, and its not because of scientists, its because of kids getting gifts on Christmas that makes it commercialized.

So it has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that a nascent religion chose to "celebrate" it's holy days at/around already existing 'pagan' celebrations?

Your religion has a celebration in December? OURS DO TOO! /shock
And you have one around the spring equinox, based upon lunar cycles? SO DO WE!

And whilst I'm thinking about it, wtf does baking a ham have to do with the alleged birth of a deity made flesh? Even if he -did- exist, hmm, let's see, he would have been Arabic, and raised as a Jew.
Neither society eats pork in any form.

Hi. My name is Kat. I'm Pagan. Nice to meet you.

I don't tell Christians how to celebrate their holidays, or when. I'm simply stating the idiocy behind "I buy gifts for Christmas, but only cause it's commercialized lulz"

And the joke's on all you if you thought for a second I was a Christian. Retards...

Whats the meaning of life? everything people want to ask about that term aly just explained it. God probably wanted you to think for your selves if he exists or not. You have your freedom you are alive, well and enjoying what you were given be it creator, big bang etc. Whats to say god was not created with the big bang anyway?
i agree so we can exist for who we truly are. Not put on a front for "God" to get goodies.
That is twofaced, God is not.

You are happy with your life? God should not interfere with people per say. God is not two faced never said he was. He supposedly gave people life, people fend for themselves and we do stuff on our own now. You still believe in god and do what he wants and think of heaven, hell and such and follow what he has left and what has been written in the bible. But at the same time atheist , or not religion is there. Aly stated she does not believe in got but, it was not in the sense most would think. She said she has all she needs here, she is living life to the fullest of her limits. You should not be worrying about anything else, when you die answers probably will come clear. People go to church and do bible school, let them be and do it. We are arguing over nothing is basically what people like aly is saying. I mean the OP is ignorant as an example, and pissed off lots of people. You choose your self what the meaning of life is to you, but ethics and morals come into play. Everyone knows the bible, I do not think no one thinks there is not a higher being or creator. It is probably in the reference of it as god and Christianity and other religions. If god was a powerful alien and he is sitting here, shocked people revere him as such... what if the guy goes by a different name or not? besides the numerous names he has in other religions?

I honestly , hope no one goes to hell for not thinking or believing in something =/. it is all here it is what we know whether there is a creator or not no one can't deny something is there, and there is some truths. it's all here no one can pop out of thin air and write such things, prophets, moses, jesus, etc.. it all came from some where. So everyone can't we all get along, take a chill pill.

As a biological sciences major, I find it incredibly funny people who haven't even delved into the deeper end of the pool of scientific theories and research still make it a point that "religious people are stupid and avoid scientific fact." I actually know several doctorate-level people who are religious whose lives are completely devoted to their research and church, and don't remain ignorant to either.

"Why does it offend you when I pray to my god?" It doesn't, but that doesn't mean I have to acknowledge whoever your god may be and believe it or not, some people get pissed because of that. "What effect does that have on you and your normal every day life?" If you pray, nothing. If you're going out of your way trying to convert me, it does have an effect. All depends on what you do with your beliefs, not the beliefs themselves. "It doesn't bother me that you don't belive the same as I do. Why does it bother you so much?" Maybe not to you personally, but there are some out there that do. I don't have a problem with people who believe in something, but I do have a problem with people trying to push those beliefs onto myself, ect.
How stupid will you feel if you find out god exists?

It goes the same the other way. There's two ways to look at it. You either devote your whole life to a (or multiple) supreme deity and then die and find out you were right, and laugh at all the non-believers, or you die and find out you wasted your time.
In the end, we'll all find out when we die, so why not enjoy what we KNOW for a FACT, and that is that we all live once and die once. Let's enjoy it while we can, and if there's an afterlife we can worry about that later.

I don't know, I think this is a valid point. It's just that there's a lot more exposure to the ignorant religious than otherwise because, quite frankly, there are a good number of the religious who do avoid scientific evidence, so it makes sense that people develop those kinds of stereotypes. Hell, you don't see PhDs in biology, Christian or not, arguing that creationism (or intelligent design) should be taught as a science, since, regardless of its accuracy, it cannot be tested with the scientific method. No, you see radical, and often poorly educated, Christians arguing for that, and that image gets associated with religion.
