Downloaded a video on xbox live about FF13 announcements etc, and came across this... im sure most people know who Leona lewis is, especially if you're from the uk, she won Xfactor a couple of years ago. Just wondered what peoples thoughts were on this. wat.
Edit: heres the song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdpeqSljUXM
yeah i deen that, i was like. huh....? Also the guy in that vid was the cheesiest presentator ever. lol I havent heard the song theyre using though so idk. I spose she's probably the british equivalent though as her songs are ballad types. It could work...maybe.
Also, the english voice actor for the kid with the white hair, sounds alot like frankie muniz..lol
Edit: ooh i jsut looked it up, its Vincent Martella! Hes the guy who plays chris's white best friend in everybody hates chris. I knew i recognised it somewhere!
Oh god :( I hate to be bandwagon hater but why does FF13 continue to look more and more "casual"? :( only FF I've ever not looked forward to really.
By "casual" I mean it seems to be trying to appeal to the whole GTA generation...
In fairness the gameplay looks amazing and i am excited, but im worried like ff9 for example, you go to load your save and hear that music which hits places deep in your brain where now we'll have leona lewis singing about hands?

You have got to be kidding me... This just ruins my hopes of having a "old fashioned" final fantasy game, I agree with ppl it's becomming way too mainstream.
Sure it might be a "good" game nice graphics etc but final fantasy for me was always about something exceptional, something "different" that really summarized what the rpg genre was all about.
I've heard Leona a lot, she has a powerful pop/r&b voice and while i'm not the biggest fan she can sing well, but I just can't see that going with a final fantasy RPG game...

This is a trend that started with FFVII. Also, we pretty much knew it was gonna be "mainstream"esque from day 1 of the screenshots.
I think I may cancel my pre order if this ***goes down -_- ff13 is just looking more and more ... CASUAL (as raen said, and I gotta agree, i LOVED crisis core soundtrack, but I am into heavier stuff)
Maybe I'm oldschool or maybe I've just played FF11 too long. But it seems that these newer RPGs allow you to do ridiculously high damage for no reason. In the video above they show a scene where you are doing multi-hit attack for 20,000+ per hit. It just seems like they made the damage potential bigger and the monster's hp higher to serve some type of personal e-peen contest. I prefer the old 9999 maximum =/
I don't give a rat's *** about the music. I always have my iTunes playing anyway since my Japanese music always matches the fights oddly, lol, and turn the game music down.

Same here.
Like in that new Star Ocean or whatever: I saw my friend starting a new file and already hitting for like 1000s. I thought he was uber. Turned out the first boss had about a million HP. Remember when a million HP was generally the hardest boss in the game? Not the tutorial boss. c.c
Edit: And making the the item to "exceed 9999 damage" really hard to get. I miss that.

I couldn't agree more with this. Sometimes this whole pop sound can work for games, but I just don't see it fitting with everything I've seen from the trailers. It worked with Kindgom Hearts so I guess I'll have to see it meshed together first. How much HP is the Yiazmat of that game gonna have? 500,000,000?
every time you guys post stuff about ffxiii I think its ffxiv and start freaking out, like when you posted the release date for 13 I was like OMG NEED TO SELL MY CHARS, and then I listened to this shitty song before I realized 13 does not, without a doubt, equal 14
tl;dr hate you guys, stop posting anything besides ffxiv stuff
It's easier to keep track of damage when the numbers were about 3 digits long; 4 digits being bit-hit stuff.
With huge numbers flying everywhere, have no idea what works better or not.
No matter how high they make the numbers; the epeeners will just aim for higher, so why start us off with doing 100 damage on the first enemy of the game?
I heard this several days ago. People were wangsting that it wasnt their uber cool jpop. I wonder if the jp audience goes "uggh" when SE hires one of their popular artists?
Ive not heard a song by Leona Lewis but I do recognize her name which was a surprise to me. Im kinda happy to see them get a recognizable person but not be somebody who's in all the spot light.
This is SE you know....the SE who makes Kingdom Hearts and has deals with Disney...we could be listening to Hannah Montana.
ffxi only has good music in about 2 zones and about 3 cutscenes, the rest of the time the notorious big is serenading me whilst I deal with the everyday struggle
I'm sure the same goes for all JP- notorious knows no cultural barriers.
oh man that is some terrible music for a final fantasy game. hope its just for the intro. would suck if a lot of the cut scenes had that kind of music.
