Question About Asura Server Being Closed

Hello, I was wondering if I have mules on Asura and transfer my main to another server to change my character name, would I be able to come back to Asura with my main as long as I have mules there? I want to change my character race and gender too but I have no idea if I can return. Most other servers are dead and very inactive compared to Asura and I dont want to permanently leave it. Thank you in advance for answering.

All transfers to asura are disabled. Even if you have an asuran character.

You can change names by deleting the character, making the new level 1 same name then calling and saying you made a mistake, undelete it.
But not entirely recommended.

That is a shame and very risky deleting your character. I have 20 years of work put into it, if it ever got permanently deleted I'd quit this game rather than restart. Not worth it in my opinion because what if there's an issue and they say they cant restore your character? Then you're out of luck. But thank you, with a name like Luna*goddess* changing to a male character might be a little weird lol. I always wanted to be an elvaan male.

Haha, why they havent implemented a basic name change service in 2026 is beyond me especially when FF14 has it. I was thinking of world transferring then coming to Asura and spending 18 bucks but i think ill spent it on reactivating my FF14 account instead. That leaves me with enough Crysta to play FF11 for a month. I just came back to the game after about a year.

Still this is very bad, half the people on Asura are just mercenaries and RMT causing all the congestion and overpopulation. Id say only about 1000 real players and most people have multiple characters so it creates the illusion that the server is bigger than it really is.

Hence why it's now closed.

SE should take a cue from Everquest and make a server just for RMT. No more RMT anywhere else, most problems solved.

I would say it's not really about the immediate overpopulation at the moment anyway. The current population of Asura is very much sustainable. The issue is that if they unlock it, everyone will pile back in and the year of progress they've made vanishes overnight(in a week, month, whatever).

If they're not going to merge servers or force anyone to move, gradually closing them helps the medium servers gain population as well so there are more viable servers long term.

This part isn't really true any more. Odin and Bahamut are both up to 2/3 as much AH volume as Asura with considerably less RMT/merc activity. Granted, that doesn't help much when you can't move to them either.
