Lol XIV had the XI collaboration event announced and the players all think XI died or has 0 dev involvement. Gotta love it, reminds me of this the kids are the XIV players

I thought they would release info before the long break so their JP playerbase would get hyped up about all the fun things in the pipeline, having a whole week to prepare and look forward to everything. Having it on the 8th suggests everything is lined up and ready to go but they’re waiting on purpose… or there are some poor people working on it through the holidays.

Honestly I'm not liking this 5 hour stream announcement at all, the duration is a red flag to me.

The duration doesn't mean a whole lot. Anything past an hour or so isn't a good faith discussion of roadmap or things to come. It's not going to be a goodbye or anything, TVR still has all of it's content coming and they've hopefully learned their lesson about calling content 'the last' content after however many times.

It's almost certainly just going to be hours of reminiscing and sharing nostalgia bait. FFXI is 20 years old, any one of us has enough memories in our head to make a 5 hour nostalgia stream easily. The devs are no exception.

I'm interested to see how they're going to fit the expac announcement, HD remaster details, PS5 & mobile release, new game systems, three new jobs, twenty new zones, mini-games, merchandising and VanaFest confirmation all into five hours, but I trust they'll manage it somehow.

At this point, I would not mind a cash shop somewhat akin to the Mog Station store.

Give me some story and/or genkai skips and I might consider opening a new mule. Some cute lockstyle sets would be nice too. Finally getting access to that blue dalmatica that Cherukiki wears without mods would be cool.

Re-release the soundtracks and slap on a bonus code for some mog pells or other bonus items. This ties in really well with the 20th anniversary. Had they done this ahead of time, they could have done a poll of the community for their favorite tracks from the last 20 years of service and released a 'best of' soundtrack for the anniversary, maybe with a really nice cover art. I like collecting the OST releases for XIV and would love to have a matching set for XI as well.

I wouldn't mind some actual merchandise too. I don't think XI has anything as marketable as the XIV job icons are, but maybe some keychains/magnets/whatever with the emblems of the nations or acrylic statues of some of the heroines/villains? I tried finding some XI-themed gifts for friends who used to play and there really wasn't much out there on SE's store or Etsy/etc.

Finally, give those of us with an XI and XIV account some kind of discount or incentive for supporting both of the games. You might actually bring some other people back if it's a little cheaper overall. It's not necessarily something related to the anniversary, but it would be an appreciated gesture nonetheless.

Not sure how worthwhile most of this would be financially for SE, but I'd definitely drop some dollars on something to commemorate the game I've been playing since 2003.

They did this for a while during 1.0 existence for 14. It was $14.99 for both subs at the time, although I think they probably have a tough time figuring out to do it with wardrobes/retainers/companion app prices to go with it, even though I would figure it would just be "adding" to the price.

Series 3, villain time. Shadow Lord, Ark Angels, Lilith, Eald'narche and Kam'lanaut, Disjoined One, Tzee Xicu the Manifest, Overlord Bakgodek, Za'Dha Adamantking. Companion set of Promathia, Hades, and Cloud of Darkness because they're way too big to blind pack.

I could keep going with this, but at $15 a figure or like $50 for the big bosses, I'm already printing SE some serious bank here.

Looks like they did have a mini figurine set at some point in the past, probably only available in Japan.

... oh man, the Trading Arts series. I remember seeing some of those for classic FF games too and thinking "I need to get these. If only I Had the money." ... and then I had the money and they weren't selling them any more.

So yeah, hell, no need for new stuff, just keep selling those. But nope, everything's gotta be super limited run.
