The battle against Ramuh in Volume 1 will also see you facing the summoner that joins the fight. If you defeat the avatar Ramuh before the summoner, note that significant damage will be incurred.
I didn't run it the second time, but the first time the SMN wasn't immune from damage with the avatars out, you just couldn't kill it b/c the avatars would Astral Flow and murder the party.
Ramuh spawned alone, then the SMN popped once it was dead. The SMN then ran around the map spawning other avatars, which had to be killed before the SMN to avoid them spamming AF abilities. We'd sleep the SMN then deal with any avatars that popped, store TP, then hit the SMN at the same time to kill it (or use the pulse GK and/or COR shots). I gather it got a DT effect last time to avoid it being basically one shot.
My guess is it's the same and a mistranslation - they mean that if you kill the SMN before the currently spawned avatars are dead, you'll take damage via AF, the same as it's always been. Maybe they changed it so Ramuh spawns w/ the SMN and you have to kill the SMN first, but that'd make no sense because then the other avatars wouldn't spawn
That's the way I interpreted it, whoever did the translation just inserted Ramuh because of the context and they meant other avatars, then got the context flipped around.
I guess they could have changed it so both spawn at the same time, forcing parties to have someone hold Ramuh while they deal with the SMN and any adds that get off. The SMN had a pretty fast cast speed, so it'd mean at least one other avatar got off before it could be slept most likely. It forces the kill order and borderline forces you to deal with at least two avatars at once plus the SMN.
Just seems like a weird change to make but who knows, maybe they did...
If you have to kill all avatars before dopple now, that's gonna be boring as hell.
(but with power creep, one astral flow doesn't mean ***unless they crazy overbuff it)
Okay figured this ***out. nearly BIS in blu acc and high rate of resist on absolute terror (not using acc food tho). /blm highly recommended.
PLD/SCH/BRD/COR/BLU/SAM
PLD engage and shield bash with +2/3 relic hand to remove spikes, kill as normal, stunga will reset hate. Once Summoner spawns, 1 person chases it (seems to prevent it summoning more avatars), rest of party killes the summon that popped with the summoner. Blu elemental seal absolute terror, kill, done.
blu used diffusion erratic flutter for haste 2, brd honor march, x3 minuet. cor did chaos/sams
You don't need PLD. Can be just DDs (including BLU) with support. Diffusion Occultation is enough to survive Ramuh if you zerg it. Osmosis absorbs shock spikes. You can use Troubadour to sleep summoner too, no need to chase it (you dont need troubadour for buffs, fight isnt long enough anyway). Btw fun fact, if you chase SMN very long time, he will stop and summon Odin and Odin will do Zantetsuken :D
we used for healing but yeah not really used. Simon also brought up good point with not needing to chase, we just sleep smn while killed the avatar it popped after min. Didnt try osmosis for spikes yet ima need to.
We've been running it on D very easily in under 9 minutes with meh-to-well geared folks. DRK DRK WAR COR(+5) BRD(3song) SCH lol. One avatar at a time, run away from the SMN when she casts AF to avoid odin
RDM was just there to Haste2, Dia and potentially raise if the volt strikes got through occultation (especially if the BLU died). Could honestly just not have the RDM, like some other DD or a random noob who could use the ambuscade points. I also think WAR and DNC could be any DD.
Fight is mostly straight forward as described. I'd recommend the BLU having white wind and be the one who pulls the mob incase the first summon is Shiva(The avatars seem to have initial hate on whoever pulled). BRD should also have a Cursed Prime Weapon or be chugging poison pots, this was pretty much the only "gotcha" we had because Shiva's sleep is like roomwide.
SMN dies in about 10 seconds flat after the Absolute Terror. Whole instance with buffs is a like 3 minutes.
I just saw a shout for BRD/BLM and i fail (as always) to understand the utility of subbing blm
Elemental Seal is ~250 macc. Granted, I'm not entirely convinced there are many/any scenarios where that macc matters, especially when Troubador is available, but that's why people suggest it.
This is probably a case of "IDK WTF BRD does, but the guide says BRD/BLM so that's what I'm yelling for"
I think I remember, years ago, when we used BRD/BLM on something and /BLM was indeed for Elemental Seal to land something while NiTro was on cooldown.
Uhm... what was that though? Albumen maybe? I don't think Elemental Seal was enough to reliably land Horde Lullaby with the gear we had access to back then, so I guess it must have been something else but I can't remember lol

It's for sleeping the summoner with elemental seal. You can use Troubadour with 5/5 merits instead, which gives higher accuracy than elemental seal, but I guess most people who don't play BRD, think that NITRO is "that thing, that BRDs use to make buffs faster and longer" and maybe even most BRDs think that too, so they make 10min buffs for 3min fight and then need /blm for Lullaby :)
I honestly forget troubadour does that lol, we did run into issues a few times where brd didnt get to the summoner quick enough which resulted in having to chase it around and Seal/Troubadour waring off so kinda nice to have a back up as well

In that case it's probably safer to go /thf and use flee (and troubadour).

You can clog up the lines and do yet another SCH/NIN solo VD. Can have up to 5 empty slots if you really wanna be ambitious and get some mules in. Geohelix + ebullience should be above 10k helix on Ramuh, if you're able to MB you can do a 60k+ Stone 5 MB to speed it up, die in the start corner with RR and let Helix tick him down. Follow smn when Ramuh dies and do Ebullience Luminohelix, I believe as long as it's above 1.1k damage it should kill over time. go //gs equip naked in the start corner with RR again and let helix kill the SMN. RR back up wait for unweak and use opposing element helix of the summon that's out. Adding extra nukes just speeds it up if you are able. Trusts make it more "stable" during the Ramuh phase. Easy month for the bois o7.
Not live yet, just want to make sure the new naming pattern gets used. Stack up every buff in the game and make his HP 0 before yours, is the strat.
Immediate use of Lightning Armor - Possible to remove with JA/Blue Spells but resists dispel/finale. Uses Stunga (enmity reset)/Bolt Strike/Chaotic Strike/Thunder Spark (single target) every 20 seconds regardless of TP. Will use Astral Conduit Bolt Strike spam (another enmity change on use)
After Ramuh a SMN Doppleganger will spawn and call elemental avatars. Uses Alexander or Odin @ around 50% (ANOTHER enmity swap)
