Byrth, can you tell me how far you went on unlocking Empyrean WS and Mythic WSes? (They each have their own quest marked as Completed). I've done all of them and still am Rank 7.

This is the kind of task a normal person would expect to count up to a certain number, like 5 out of ~20 Mythic WSes ...but this is SE we're talking about, so who knows?

Does the game track each fish you catch? Any way to check that in-game?

Yes, actually! After you complete Fisherman's Heart, a sidequest in Mhaura, talking to the questgiver Katsunaga (and maybe trading another Gugru Tuna every time you want to see the list?) will show you a full list of all fish you have caught.

e: also rank 7, did all empyrean WSes, haven't started mythic yet because I keep forgetting to get around to it even though the Nyzul F100 guaranteed weapon drop makes it pretty easy

I got all of the Mythic and Empyrean WSes before the weaponskill points update for fun during the course of my XI Let's Play.

Currently at Mastery Rank 6. (I've got a lot less done than all of the rest of you. Particularly with regards to Adoulin)

Am wondering about how much REMAP are worth though.

Each weapon takes you through its same process each time, but only every thing after Relics has the same ending NPCs. i.e. Relic weapons all have different ending NPCs, so I guess count as talking to different NPCs to end the quest each time, so like, are Relics in particular worth more Mastery points than EMAP?

I did all of them (WSNMs, Mythic, and Empyrean). I don't remember Empyrean WSs having explicit quests, though.

They've nerfed it significantly lately and made it really easy to get them, iirc. It doesn't matter as much now, but my hot tip there is to get dragon regain and slam out self-skillchains. You can use Wild Fire to unlock gun trial weapons in like 2 Azi Dahakas because it resists fire.

This thread is 63 pages long and I think no one has reported ranking up after finishing an RMEA.

Most of our rank-up stories are from getting titles. The only exceptions (IIRC) are Medal of Altana and Monstrosity levels.

SE says skills, playtime, etc. matter, but I want to see the receipts. My guess is that if they matter then the amount they matter is capped and low.

Getting an aeonic takes you to rank 3

(because you have to do so many missions and kill so many titled nms)

Just dinged rank 9 while working on campaign ops! Completing 80% of the total amount (197/246) and getting my medal of Altana back from switching nations seemed to be the thing to tip me over.

Did you do anything else between losing your medal and getting it back, or do we have solid confirmation that Campaign Ops matter?

I just did a little due diligence before I responded, it seems I got a rank up in chocobo digging from novice to apprentice this morning, so I guess that dilutes it somewhat.

FWIW I've been rank 8 since march 2023, and was probably about 65% (i just checked, was at 125/246) campaign ops completed then, and only amateur/recruit maybe in digging, so it might actually be that.

been trying to find the random stuff I never finished when i hit 8 to see what would tip me over so have been doing Chocographs/digging/campaign ops for a week or so.

also thanks for the title inverter Byrth! Used it and found I was missing "Moon Maven" from not popping the correct boss in SSR2 :) (edit: but did not get that title between losing medal and getting it back)

I knocked them all out a decade ago, but yeah, these are the kind of cheat codes I live for. xD

Also, Empyrean weaponskill unlocks aren't a "title", but if you trade the weapon in Walk of Echoes, via the Liminal Residue/Devious Die method, it shows up in your Completed Quests:

Still 8. I don't have a M50 job yet though. Got a few more Campaign Ops under my belt, but need some conditions fulfilled to be able to do the last few for Bastok & Sandy, otherwise I just have Pit Spider spam.

Got Moogle Mastery in Sheol to 43, just need to open a lot of boxes in A/B. Also, have lv139 Incursion now.

Made a small addon to monitor interactions with bard npcs and record earned/unearned titles. It's for Ashita, but the method and data tables could be easily reused for Windower. May convert it at some point if nobody else does anything with it: shouldn't be that hard if anyone feels up to it though.

With Thorny's Title check tool, I just got 700 titles (and 795 RoE), and I'm still Rank 7. (No Campaign, no Monstrosity).

Not super interesting, but 1 Expeditionary Force completion, got me the title "Expeditionary Trooper" and got 2 of my alts from Rank 5 to Rank 6 (1 has 297 completed RoE, and the other 300; However a 3rd alt with 340 RoEs completed is still at Rank 5).

Personally, I think RoE completion only matters by way of getting a title ...but might as well check the box now, right?

how many quests/missions done on the alts? I am nearing 400 RoE done and still rank5 with nearly 1k days time played. Just trying to triangulate info - I thought I was missing RoEs but now thinking it's def gotta be quests/missions unless you also have a lot of extraneous content done on the alts (choco digging/monstrosity/crafting/etc)

I did a little bit of title hunting, and a good bit of RoEs (nearly 100) since getting my earring and haven't seen a rank up. I also did a little crafting (one to 60+ and a few 10-20s) but haven't started maxing stuff out/getting titles from crafting yet. I did a few missions/quests but nothing sizable and I think that needs to be my next point of focus. I do not have all nations rank10 nor do I have many campaign ops done+no Medal of Altana.

Worth noting these quests show if you trade the real empyrean to get the weapon skill unlock. I only have 2 unlocked but one of them was with an actual Almace and it shows the sword quest here for me

Caught all of the fish at Fisherman's Heart (164 total) and nothing new happened. No rank up to 9 still. I had hopes though.

For synthesis/fishing skills, I wonder if it is an 'all or nothing' sort of situation where in order to get crafting-related experience to help boost up your rank you need to complete the category perfectly, i.e. crafting shield, all fish caught, synergy, choco digging maxed, plus the traditional crafting 110/subs 70.

Such a convoluted system. I've posted again on the JP forums asking for clarity not on what directly influences one's rank, but instead asked them to confirm what does NOT influence one's rank. Linkie. Vote me up on the last post!

I'll do a comprehensive update when i get a chance, but after reading that official forum thread I thought I'd share some insights on things I have NOT done to hit rank 9

I don't have a number of mog garden titles, i still need the 500/1000 day pond/ocean ones as well as the 500/1000 monster raising/killing ones. I do have all the rearing mementos

I have not de-leveled any crafts to get additional titles for veteran GP items.

I am 'only' midway through stage 3 crafting shield.

I don't have the 500/1000 MMM titles, I do have the full set of runes.

I've done a bunch of monstrosity, which is what tipped me to rank 8 originally. but not TONS - I focused on unlocking the monsters that required item trades in case the were considered "quests". I still need to do adamantoise, my highest lvl monster is 70.

I do have one of the brown mage titles, but I don't think by any means that would be mandatory content.

I have completed every quest and mission in the game, and beaten all endgame content except the last 3 MTs.

IMO I feel like while some of these more unreasonable tasks might fast track you up a rank, they aren't mandatory to get you there. there's probably some baseline req for certain content to qualify for a rank + x amount of points from titles/skills etc to actually get to it.

This makes me optimistic that if I do Sortie / VD Lilith I will ding rank 9.

Have you done much Ballista?

If I'm never going to do gardening or crafting, what rank can I really acheive? Very disappointed to be only Rank 6 with all I've done. Only quests in the past and adoulin I haven't done that I could probably bring myself to do.

I haven't done much ballista, I have Rook buster, Gold Balli***star and the samurai title from it, and that was all from the vanabout, previous to that i had joined a couple of matches like 15 years ago with no notable results.

The same quote everyone has been saying for 60 pages (rank 8 before, now it's the exact same for 9). Then when they don't rank up, they say it again about a different bit of content. Rinse and repeat. Everyone I know SWEARS they're just barely under the next rank.

There are like...5 people who are rank 9? And dozens of rank 8 who THINK they're almost rank 9.

Side note: has anyone confirmed whether r9 gives 30 stats with the earring or not? Would be hilarious if there's a rank 10, meanwhile the people barely squeak across the line to 9 after doing every conceivable thing in the game.

I already posted it, but Rank 9 gives +25 to all stats, implying the existence of Rank 10.

My personal belief is that Rank 10 isn't possible yet, and is mostly future-proofing the earring for eventual content to be added.

If Rank 10 is currently possible, the most likely requirement would be clearing ALL of the Master Trials (or at least the last one).
