Mental illness is somewhat treatable, after you can detect it. Event leading up to detection are what we are talking about. Crazy, sane, who ever decides they want to harm someone, the person has a right to defend themselves from the harm.

I have a brother who suffers from psychosis, see's and hears things that aren't there. My friends mother has early onset dementia. I'm sure the medical community would love to talk to you on about your discovery. You might even get a Nobel for that.
