Like I said, its been in the news for weeks now, you are free to google more information about the death threats Fauci has received from the alt-right for not agreeing with Trump's every word.
I'm not going to prove you right for you. It is your job to defend your own opinions, not mine.

Already done.

Viciouss said: »
Also, no, don't expect your conspiracy that the left will start attacking Fauci (for any reason) to come true.

I never once mentioned that it is the left who is making these death threats. You are projecting your own insecurities on my words.

Also, with all the praise Dr. Fauci has been getting lately, I can't wait until he becomes the latest whipping boy now that he is now stating that we are starting on a downward curve of new cases.

God help us all that the WH start giving out good, uplifting news, right?

I never said you alleged the left would start issuing the death threats in place of the alt-right, I said not to expect this post by you to come true. Fauci is not going to become the "whipping boy" of any outlets from the left. That is reserved for just the alt-right.

he only reason they are still televising Trump's pathetic "briefings" is they want the people to hear what Fauci and Birx are saying. They are the only two not lying to us about something. As often as they go on tv tho, there are ways around that.
Or, maybe, just hear me out, people are watching these briefings because there is a national emergency and want as much information as possible, especially due to two things:

1) These briefings give an unfiltered source of information so people can process them without media bias interfering.
2) These briefings let people know what is going on and what the federal government is doing, and what sort of medicine is being applied, and all the important information, including any plans to restart the economy after this is over with.

And none of this information is coming from Trump. That role is being filled by whoever else steps up the podium. Trump is there solely to campaign and attack anyone that asks him a legitimate question, and of course, blame "previous administrations" for his failures.

You proved absolutely nothing other than the fact that you get your information from opinions of others. Nothing more.

Ok, I will admit I misread that. I didn't make a conspiracy though, I'm just saying out loud a thought. I wouldn't be surprised that the liberal media will start demeaning Dr. Fauci because he is now touting good news, but I never said that they would.

But hey, another projection from you! Called it!

Asura.Kingnobody said: »
Or are you projecting your own wishes that every bad thing that happens in the world is because of people whose political leanings are right of center?

Then you are obviously not paying any attention of the briefings. That "campaign and attack anyone (reporters)" line comes straight from CNN/WP/NYT mouth. So, guess more evidence that you are taking other people's opinions as fact. Keep it up! Keep proving me right!

Besides, I think I should probably stop arguing with you Vic.

Not because I'm wrong, but because of the sheer number of reports I'm getting on my posts now, and I neither want this thread to be closed/deleted nor banned for people spamming the report button again...

I'm not reporting your posts, FYI. I've never reported you, and despite PMs from other people taking shots at me, I had nothing to do with your section ban.

Never said you did. I do know that my posts in the past have been reported for no real reason and I have been banned from the sheer number of reports alone. Previous mods have specifically stated to me in PM that this was the case, but those mods aren't mods anymore.

Also, in case anyone is curious.

Death Rate per capita by state.

Total number of cases per state.

Got to love this website.

Edit: I don't want people to uses the stats for political posturing. This virus has no political affiliation and will kill you regardless, even if you are Republican, Democrat, Socialist, Capitalist, Communist, or even part of the Inanimate Objects party.

Agreed. People are clamoring on both sides to use this crisis for their own political gain's, rather than put the *** down to focus on it properly. Our leadership, and our divisive 2 party system is ***.

Blame can be placed after we all survive. No point in bitching about ***if we are all dead.

And there's more than politics as factors in everything. Especially the New England states, especially in NYC. Population density has a much larger factor than the fact that Andrew Cuomo is a Democrat.

Man, I don't care about politics at this point. The way PPP is handled seems to come out of the minds of a group of delusional idiots.

2.5 time the payroll sounds nice but it's doing little to nothing. If you have a business that is still running and making money then it will help. A bit. You can rehire your people so they can idle because business isn't going to pick up. That means after 2 months you're back to where you started and a little worse for wear.

If you don't have a business that is worth running at this point, you should just keep is shut. That means a lot of businesses and they drag down the other running businesses too.

Maybe they think it would be better in 2 months. A lot of businesses would be dead by then.

I hope they would come up with something. Like total suspension of debt, rent, bills and everything for 2 months. Then we could reopen or something along the line.

Congress is gonna do something to help PPP, the medical industry, and people that need food stamps this week, next week at the latest. The Labor Dept. is drowning right now, they just need time, and they don't have it. People needed money last week, government just isn't designed to move this fast.

PPP is exclusively for payroll/rent/mortgage/utilities. You may not think it is much, but for the people still employed thanks to the loan turning into a grant due to their employment, it's a lifesaver for those employees.

It's also to keep businesses afloat during times of low to no activity due to everyone being at home. Those are less bills they have to worry about, and any income coming in during this can be used for the bills not covered by this loan turning into a grant.

You may think it's not worth it, but for the many businesses who get it, it most likely will keep them open after this pandemic is over with.

And, what, those 2 months of bill just magically disappear?

Let me ask you something, if you are given an option to defer 2 months of rent, can you afford 3 months of rent all at once?

Most businesses cannot do that. They cannot defer expenses and then pay a balloon payment all at once towards the end. Nearly all businesses, even multinationals, do not have cash on hand or liquid cash available to pay 3 months of bills at once. A normal business has all of their money in inventory and fixed assets, and possibly receivables, but not cash.

And you are also proposing 2 months of deferred payroll. Do you think people are going to work for free for 2 months? Do you think they can survive on the promise of a possible large payday, assuming that the business can pay them when they open?

And how will that business get the money to pay these bills? Remember, they have had 2 months of slow to no income, so it's not like they have cash incoming to pay all these deferred bills.

Asking/demanding deferrals or outright forgiveness of debt does absolutely nothing but hurt everyone.

It looks like the WH is already objecting to the Dem proposals, so, next week for Congress. There is no way they are going to jam through legislation this week. Thomas Massie has already said unanimous consent is out, endangering human lives be damned. Next week at the earliest.

Looks like New York and New Jersey are pretty much screwed. Have the dead started getting back up yet? I mean we could just nuke those states from orbit, only way to be sure.

If a business is open the PPP helps but if its a non-essential small business it does nothing for them if they are closed and have no income coming in.
If they keep paying their employees, the PPP loan becomes a PPP grant, regardless if they have income or not. Which, I believe, is the whole point of the program. Keeping people employed and paid.

Caerda said: »
Our company is not small but we are taking a 2M income hit for April. May will probably be a 5M income hit. We will be bankrupt by June. We are still open as we are essential but our clients for the most part have been laid off. They have no money to pay their accounts. We don't qualify for PPP but payroll is our only expense left to cut.
If I remember correctly, your company is a property management business. Meaning rent.

I know that some of your clients probably will not get PPP loans/grants, but some will. And in order for them to get the loan turned into a grant, they have to show that they are using those funds for approved purposes, meaning rent. So, it's possible that your company won't get hit as hard as you think.

And, while your company may not qualify for PPP, your company does qualify for Economic Disaster Relief loan. That loan's current interest rate is 0.5%. So, basically free money.

Sure, it has to be repaid, but it's not like your company can't set the terms of payment, and I'm sure the SBA doesn't care how long it takes as long as it is repaid.

We know you support the Green New Deal, but now is not the time to force it on America through this bill. Or faux Medicare for All.

I don't support the pork they are trying to push. They just gave a ***ton of money to hospitals and low income people. Does 2 Trillion debt from the last stimulous not ring a bell? Don't be dumb.

Ok, they also gave a shitload of money to PPP. Does that just not count?

7M of lost income is not something we can survive. Taking a loan for money we will never see is just business suicide.
Actually, you will see it again if you survive past this.

You just said that you expect to lose 5 million in May. So that means your company makes greater than 5 million (I would guess 8-10 million a month, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's more) a month.

Unless you are breaking even or making a loss each month, keeping open and not having to liquidate your assets due to a firesale is preferable than going bankrupt. And, honestly, if you do go bankrupt, there is still a good chance your company will still survive. Chapter 11 and 13 bankruptcies are the best for this situation.

Well, that's some of what is being pushed right now.

Let me ask you this: Would you like for Congress to push this bill if it gives major multinational corporations parachute payments for their executives? Or would you demand that to be taken out? Because, according to you, you rather it be pushed through, details be damned.

Aww you mad? This is no time to cry about the deficit. It's over 3T already and Congress didn't bat an eye. You don't get to cry about the Dems when it suits you, let me remind you it passed the Senate 98-0 and Trump signed it.

And guess what? We are only, at best, halfway through Congressional action. This emergency legislation is going to add around another 500b to the deficit. Then there is the Phase 4 deal, that's gonna be another trillion. Conservatively, I would expect our deficit to end up at 5T by the end of the year.

And no one is gonna get to point to the other side and say "They did that." But please, keep trying to blame the Dems for my personal entertainment.
