So looks like Dems are losing again, Senate looking to adopt rules that will let them dismiss the impeachment entirely if the House doesn't bring it to them.
Hmmm ... Senate dismissing impeachment, wasn't there someone here who said they could do that. Uh actually, the Senate is not looking to adopt those rules, one Senator has suggested it and its dead in the water. Takes 2/3 of the senate to do that, like 67 votes. Do you actually think Moscow Mitch can get 14 dems to vote for that?
Only takes 4 republicans defecting to call witnesses in the senate trial. While its way more likely that 4 republicans will defect than 14 dems, I don't think that will happen either.

It takes 51 votes now for a rules change, or did you forget "The Nuclear Option". It would also take 51 votes to dismiss it due to lack of prosecution as that's not a trial but an administrative ruling. Conviction in the Senate is the only part that takes 2/3rd majority. I forgive you for thinking otherwise though, you can't help yourselves but to taken whatever CNN says as gospel.

Yep it's being written now, will be proposed as a rule change, which will get approved. Then they will request a "motion to dismiss due to lack of prosecution", which is an administrative procedure that's common in law. This is a real thing, unlike everything that CNN pedals.

Honestly I don't think they'll get that far, once the rules pass the Senate, Peloski will submit her articles as the other two options, retracting them or having them dismissed, are even worse for her.
As the Senate is the Judge and Jury for impeachments, with oversight from the Chief Justice, there is plenty of strong legal arguments for this action, with absolutely no arguments against. All the current rules were written with the assumption that the House would immediately submit articles of impeachment after approval.

It the Liberal Reality Distortion Bubble, if they leave, then harsh reality would crush their hopes and dreams. I even stated the the Nuclear Option had become a thing now since. The Democrats started using it during Obama and the Republicans started using it afterward.
Constitutionally speaking it only requires a simple majority vote in both houses as well as the Presidents signature. The whole 60/67 thing was something each chamber made up as precedent to keep the peace and spirit of compromise between the parties.
This was completely shattered when liberals insisted on absolute reform their way or nothing else, and conservatives told them to *** off and that the Constitution exists. Liberals responded that the Constitution is just some papers written by old white men centuries ago and isn't relevant anymore. And thus the death match between the two parties began because there can be no compromise on such an issue. Either the Constitution is the absolute governing document of the United States of America or it's not and we need to form a new country named the United Peoples Democratic Republic. If the US Constitution is this fuzzy distant irrelevant document, then the USA does not exist.
The Preamble says it all.
