Link any other game developer that has allowed even 10% of their packet structure to be mapped or sit the *** down. I have no idea who you are, you wrote a couple addons maybe? I'm guessing you don't have windower source. You should not be saying "We". Offline

Just to be clear, are you asking if THEY themself map it publicly, or players map it publicly. Im starting to lose track of the actual question. I think it's pretty clear. I don't think SE would send a C&D to themselves... As stated several times now, FFXI very clearly has the entire packet structure mapped by the windower team. No other game developer would allow you to do this, they would send you a C&D. It allows idiots like Eli to find the exploit he found. SE has taken a hands off approach, I believe security by obscurity was how it was worded best. If SE had been in contact with the Windower/Ashita team at all I can assure you they would have told them that 90% of their addons should not be allowed and the packet structure should not be public. Calls me idiot, but fabricates biased facts based on over-opinionated assumptions. I actually wasn't 100% even disagreeing with you, I just couldn't follow what you were actually asking. This is back to being boring and biased, later guys. Again sorry Windower Devs for the special people. The fact of the matter is if SE wanted 3rd party utilities gone all they would have to do is ban everyone who used them, and yes they can detect them fairly easily.
I mean they could be total *** and rewrite the launcher slightly on like every update and cause the hook to break, but that'd just be trolling. There's a lot of things they COULD do and decide not to. Bitching about it is moot. Offline
None of the devs are paying attention to this nonesense that I know of. They dropped the discussion about this thread around 1pm EST. This guy has just gone full retard. "I DONT KNOW WHO YOU ARE YOU CANT POSSIBLY KNOW ANYTHING!"
Also seen this on first search, but not entirely sure how in depth it goes.

Blizzard Packets Info This is the packet structure for the battle net client and how it connects to blizzard games, as it states multiple times all over everything. edit: looks like they also have ingame chat for Diablo II and Warcraft III. yay! some dumb happened... can we get back to normal already?

Just cause windower defined the fields doesnt make SE's garbage code any of their fault. You all use windower and if not you use ashita. get off your high horses. There's absolutely no way any major game developer would let you map their entire packet structure publicly. You would definitely be met with a C&D. You are very delusional if you don't believe that. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Square_Enix edit Call me an idiot all you want I'm not the guy insane enough to come in here and start an argument with 3 different people and still conclude their right I'm out lol Offline

Never once moved a single goal post. From the start I was comparing how a company like blizzard(or anyone) would handle the wealth of information/addons that SE allowed on FFXI. No idea why you were trying to change the conversation to make it fit whatever you're talking about.
I'm not a sock account, I don't post on FFXIAH, my ego doesn't need fed, anyone who knows who I am can confirm I'm not a sock account if they'd like. To get to the conclusion you came to, you'd have to assume I don't know windower has mapped most packets (false) and completely ignore any of the context of the conversation going on. You do you though, whatever gets you that self-pat on the back. Offline

So where can I find these packets and what do I do with them ?

post mover said: » There's absolutely no way any major game developer would let you map their entire packet structure publicly Nobody would logically come to a different meaning than what was said, there's no "conclusion" to be gotten to, it's literally spelled out. To arrive at your moved goal post one would have to assume that you don't know how to construct a proper statement or question and you didn't mean what you typed. The fact of the matter is that it's moot, SE has no control over it, not even Square Enix America. But let's keep pretending that SE has the power to stifle the free speech of others when it's not on their platform. fonewear said: » So where can I find these packets and what do I do with them ?
