The president sets foreign policy, not the intel community or the state department.

...and Roger Stone was just found guilty. That is bound to have a profound impact on the impeachment proceedings, since Trump stands accused having a foreign country interfere in the 2020 presidential election.

Unless she was checking Twitter in the middle of her testimony, I fail to see how she could have been intimidated.

So was thinking, earlier there was the testimony from one of the Obama state guys about the non-standard communications channel. At first it seems weird, but then think about it, all these guys are Obama folks / Democrats who immediately leak anything to the WaPo and actively work against the US Government. It would be stupid to ~not~ have a secondary channel to circumvent interference and prevent leaks from known Obama entities. These guys aren't government workers, they are Democrats who happen to hold government positions.

So yeah hearing that there was a secondary communications channel, one the Democrats can't infiltrate or manipulate, makes sense and hows that the President knows what he's doing.

Yep. The deep state is real, out to get Trump, and has been since day 1. The idea that he would willingly include them on all his foreign policy is ridiculous. They work for him and he is not obligated to include people looking to destroy him in his policy decisions.

None of these people are "Obama folks." They are 20+ year career officials. If anything, Sondland is definitely a Trump guy. Keep making stuff up tho guys.

Impeachment is clearly taking its toll, though. Trump's RCP approval rating aggregate has already recovered and isn't far off from its high mark.

This whole process is just unfair. The people being polled are being completely inconsiderate of the Democrats who has spent so much of their valuable time and taxpayer dollars to take down the President. It's almost as if they don't give a Schiff.

Aw, it'll be okay. Once this goes to the senate, chances are it won't get the 67 votes and Trump will remain in office.

They are already saying it could be a 6-8 week Senate trial. They aren't even going near the idea of Trump taking the stand yet. But that discussion will happen.

I didn't even know about this thread! I thought once the other one was shut down...that was it. But just like you, I too have a lil birdy. BUT, just like a whistleblower in an impeachment inquiry, they will remain anonymous...for protection purposes of course.

I wouldn't use the term "deep state", it's from a conspiratorial point of view and thats not whats happening. "Deep State" is just what happens when government bureaucracy gets involved in national politics. Remember government workers are people too, they have political beliefs, they vote, they have one of the biggest unions in the USA and they have party affiliations. Now when you have a diverse split among them, then politics never enters into, but when one party dominates the bureaucracy then it's possible for that bureaucracy to become corrupt.

The Democrats just happen to be the ones running the government from the inside right now, traditionally it's been the Republicans. Look at Eisenhower, the "red scare" and all the silliness with Nixon to see the shoe being on the other foot.
