Since when does a news article need to back up testimony? Sondland has established that he, along with Trump, Giulani, Rick Perry, and Kurt Volker were working together to pressure the Ukrainians into investigating Burisma and the 2016 elections in exchange for a meeting between Zelensky and Trump. This process started in May, before the hold was placed on the military aid. That is a clear and obvious quid pro quo. The money doesn't come into play until months later.

We are gonna find out a lot more about the money aspect tomorrow when the OMB official testifies. All of these witnesses so far were completely blindsided by the hold Trump put on the aid. It definitely did not start out as part of the pressure campaign.

Ukraine was instrumental in the corruption of the 2016 election. Trump wanted to make sure zalinsky was the real deal before he handed over the money. This is evidenced by the indictment regarding Burisma and hunter biden that came out today.
Trump wanted to make sure that the aid wasn’t going to line anyones pockets. So he waited until he could verify Zalinski was serious about his campaign promises of transparency.
The delay did not violate any law, and it was not conditional on any investigation per the testimony of every person called so far.
