Very happy about the new zone, altough I wonder why an _S zone, it's not exactly the fastest zone to get to if you're in a hurry for CP/EP, but then again it's not really an issue.

I'm more concerned with the fact these Apex will be lower level.
Which likely implies less EP than the ones in Promys and Alzadaal.
On one hand I could say that's good for people with worse gear but... if the ones in Promy and Alzadaal were too high level you already had a lower level options: the previously existing Apexes in Dho Gates, Mho Gates, etc etc.

So I mean... I dunno I'm very happy about this but a bit puzzled about their choice of making these monsters lower level.

You can teleport directly there I think? Using npc teleport?

It's options dood. There is a lack of options. More "lesser" camps are unappealing to sellers. And they don't want the sellers gone... so...

Yeah, that would be nice I guess.
I mean it's gonna be good regardless, period.

But I was honestly hoping for stuff that gives more EP/hr.
Then again the ML cap is staying at 30 for this month sooo no big deal.
But once they start rolling out ML40 they need to think about something, especially for people who need to catch up.

The situation isn't as bad as the JP one was at start honestly (where the grind was immense and 99% of people simply ignored them), it's okaysh, but I still get the feeling that a good amount of people simply aren't bothering at all with ML atm.

previously they said we were getting camps in Crawlers' Nest [S], but I don't believe they mentioned this bit. looks like we're getting this whole part of the map, which is currently unreachable in [S]

They mentioned it on their last Japanese livestream, so we've known it for a couple of weeks now. Glad there's more options. Hope there's multiple mob types and lots of them. Hope all of it links to make things more difficult for automated parties/RMT.

lesser could mean on par with inner rak, which isn't terrible.

Exactly and Inner Rak is very limited. Not enough Dogs and bats, Skeletons are only for blunt DDs and light(?) (or I guess someone with active WHM banishing everything). Bhoots, Umbrils and Corpselights are annoying.

In crawler's nest we should get some much better families like Flies, Crawlers, Beetles, Funguars and a little worse Scorpions. I'm looking forward to level BST there for example. Not much mid-high Apex camps where you can use Killer Instinct.

Linking is good for bots. It means less pulling. What you want is things that aggro magic. The sam is indestructible no matter how many thousand mobs they link, but the geo and whm are very much not.

Add a mob that patrols and detects if a person has been idle or 0 keystrokes after x amount of time, then he casts death on them.

Crawlers, flies, funguars, lizards, and scorpions all have AoE/conal moves that can wipe shadows. Maybe there will be bees or beetles?

Hoping for a variety and LOL @ invincible SAMs.

Damn yo... SE is really hooking us up with these updates after making killer bank on the veterans who needed mog wardrobes.

I do not believe the Mog Wardrobes were released with a promise, explicit or implied, that they would be followed by more staff and larger updates.

Whoa there, do you have any idea how entitled you sound expecting to get something out of the money you pay to the multibillion dollar corporation?

Do you have any idea how much work it takes to click some buttons and adjust some sliders to update Ambuscade every month?

On top of that, they added enemies in an existing zone! Many a sleepless night were surely had completing such a herculean task!

And don't forget, once every other month or so they give us 3 additional cutscenes that largely involve a lone character model moving its mouth and occasionally raising a limb coupled with a cakewalk BCNM fight! I can only imagine the hundreds of thousands of dollars it takes to develop such complex content!

You should be honored to pay monthly to play a 20 year old game that receives such significant updates!

Gets half-assed, smidgen-above-zero effort content: Points out that it's half-assed, smidgen-above-zero effort content despite how much simps want to pretend it isn't.
Doesn't get content: Rightfully complains about lack of content.
Monthly updates: See above.
Quarterly updates: See above.

I'm not sure why it pains the simps so much to admit that SE doesn't put much effort into updating the game.

Most people here know exactly how much effort SE puts into updating the game. For some people it's enough, for some people it's not enough. We know they planned to close FFXI a decade ago. We know there is no real potential for FFXI to suddenly bring millions of people for SE to justify spending huge amount of money to create tons of content. We know they have games, which are way more profitable and worth development time. We know the game could easily be in maintenance mode for many years now, but instead we still got substantial updates in past 5 years. I know games like Mobius FF or Paragon that are long time goners, because they simply shut them down instead of trying to keep them alive at all and those games were probably in much better position than FFXI. FFXI is probably only still going, because it's one of the main FF games, otherwise it would be dead or in full maintenance mode. So don't try to make us some reality check, because you are then who needs it. People who still play FFXI, love FFXI and don't want it to die, so we accept what we get, because we know the situation we are in.

See, I don't think there's anything wrong with this as long as you're acknowledging that SE does very little in terms of updates. It's the people acting like changing the monthly Ambuscade battle and tossing out a few new TVR cutscenes/"fight" every 2 or 3 months are substantial updates that make it absurd.

But it is a substantial update in the situation we are in. This game has no perspectives for grow, it should be in maintenance for several years. Instead we are getting updates. Some more substantial than others but they are here and they are frequent. If that's not enough for you then quit. For me and many others that is more than enough.

I'm not saying you have Stockholm Syndrome, but if you were playing the role of a character with Stockholm Syndrome, that would be the lie you'd convince yourself of to really get into the part.

This has probably already been mentioned (or complained about) but with all the power creep, the old content has becone trivial. The last time we had this sort of change, it was through full release of abyssea or adoulin. So if there isn't some big release of new content this year, these latest updates have only served to make the game stale with only 1 endgame that remains aligned to level.

So I hope they actually have a large chunk of content planned or they kinda botched the maintenance mode the game was left in for no good reason.
