Called it before, but it's worth repeating. They're making a Final Fantasy XI (11) animated series or movie or miniseries. They already have the studio that is working on a Final Fantasy IX (9) anime.
That would make no sense business-wise. Unless they're targeting the very niche demographic of "middle-aged people nostalgic for their youth wasted on being video game nerds", it would be something with fairly significant production costs and very little in-built audience. If you're going to make a an anime about a FF MMO, XIV is the much more likely candidate, especially considering the recent surge in popularity it's had.
Looking at it purely from a business standpoint, if you're going to spend money on anything XI-related, it's a much better move to invest in the game itself, since that way you're least getting recurring revenue as opposed to one-time sale.

I mean, from a business standpoint the best thing to do with this IP would have been the mobile game.

Factually accurate, mobile gaming is absolutely ridiculous. Growth is literal insanity. And they tried, they just did the square thing and picked the absolute worst company to do it with.

Ambuscade
July V1 is Sahagin, V2 is the shroom

August V1 will be Ramuh. It seems like they are going to add Ramuh's staff as a lockstyle weapon.

New HTMB is Shinryu

Crimson traverser stone is required for entry, but the HTMB will not consume the stone

Must have defeated Shinryu before to buy the KI

Difficulty ranges from VE-VD

Abyssea buffs unavailable (no atmas or temp items)

HP always visible

Shinryu and Lilith HTMB are similar in difficulty, but VE and E Shinryu have more annoying gimmicks

It's hard to imagine MORE ANNOYING than lillith mechanics.

Neat though. As expected. Knife is cute but a little underwhelming. It's still going to be instant BiS offhand. Rip Ternion. (tpbonus withstanding)
Other stuff is lovely.

I just got done saying I hope they stopped adding gear-locked spells like impact to the game and they doubled down and gave us the ilvl version.

At least it has higher magic accuracy.

The armor, that they didn't leak, seems obvious? They never show every item.

What would make you think it would work with the non ilvl version? Usually a set works only with specific items, they would have to code it to work that way. Do empyrean set bonuses from the lower grade work with ilvl versions? I don't think they will, just add two new items to work as a set, and the previous two will work together on their own.

Should be an ammo instead of an earring there as well.

I don't think that is true necessarily, empy sets work across the various upgrade states. I'm not sure that extends to non iLvl versions of them, but it's possible.

That's why I specifically mentioned a non ilvl example. Making items from the same level range sets work together isn't uncommon, they did this with both +2 and +3 artifact set bonus as well. They may have done it with Ambuscade armor versions. I'm not doubting they CAN do it, but there isn't really any precedent that indicates gear works like that.

Also, the names are different and are entirely different pieces of armor altogether. There's no reason to think the former set extends into the ilvl versions. They made two more items exactly the same as the first version with boosted stats and linked them together.

It would be nice if the Auto Reraise was Reraise IV. Then that set would be worth getting. But that helm as it stands is ripe ***. Just a worse flamma hat, innit?

Twilight was never used for it's other stats, it was only ever a toggle for when you knew you were going to die so you didn't have to carry reraise items. This set seems like it will be the same.

I'm not that impressed. But on Asura it will be like 40 M per armor/weapon.

Crepuscular Cloak
Puris? It's definitely プリス... Pris? I'm not familiar with any sort of cloak/robe garment of similar word. The kana on the original is トワイライトプリス so.... whatever a "purisu" is, it should be translated to "cloak".

This is absolutely untrue; back at 90 cap the body was an amazing TP piece (with an unheard-of 32 accuracy), and the head was similarly amazing for WS. It wasn't until ilvl gear that they were relegated to being a going-to-die swap.

As it is, this head looks excellent for multi-hit WSs when not attack capped.

If they do it, it'll just be identical to the old one. Use for temporary (60 seconds) effect. Cause it's obviously broken.

But, imagine a dark now with that effect? Completely destroys all their shenanigans in goal.

Fair enough, I was never successful at getting either the Mail or the Helm before iLvl invalidated both (Still don't have the Mail).

This effect is only on melee hits (and was before nerf too), not WSs, so it wouldnt really destroy anything. Also what you mean exactly? weapon type resistance?
