Yea whenever we want to fire an employee for reasons we cannot disclose we usually come up with a BS laundry list of crap they did in the past to justify it.
Thats exactly what happened.

Thats exactly what happened. ftfy, cause honestly, if Comey tried to pull that level of incompetence in the private sector, he would have been fired 10 months ago. Well before he did something else that was stupid, like reopening a "closed investigation" on a presidential candidate and making a public scene about it.
Or even going beyond the scope of his job, like the letter said. eliroo said: » I don't get the blind faith towards the Trump administration, he is in office and you need to hold him accountable as the president of the US not defend his every action as if he is running for office. There doesn't have to be an overly complicated answer he was incompetent !

Occam's razor simpler answer is probably the best answer.
Don't worry, maybe the 9th Circuit will find a way to overrule Comey being fired.

Say that I just get mad at one of my employee's, maybe they cut me off going to work. If I wanted to fire them I could build a case really quick that sounds totally legitimate and you would think I fired them for a good reason, but in reality there was a reason that I didn't list. This is could easily be the case here. I mean the way I see it is that it was a huge risk firing Comey during the Trump investigation. They knew the potential backlash and headlines, but they did it anyway. Why do you think they would do it now? Wouldn't it make sense to wait for the investigation to be forgotten or resolved? I think it is pretty obvious that they felt the need to do it now. This wouldn't be the Trump administration Scandal. Offline

I mean, have you even listened to Comey's testimonies? He was basing his investigation on an obviously falsified dossier created for the Clinton campaign to use against Trump. Not only that, he was actually setting up payments to the author of said dossier to create more falsehoods for the investigation. A dossier that is Vic-level devoid of fact. If anything, they could put Schumer as the special investigator and nothing will change. Hell, they could put Candlejack as the special investigator and nothing will change, bias-wise. Offline

I'm not picking sides here. It is how we should be acting towards our "leader" instead we treat it like some partisan battle. Offline

I'm not about to refute your claims of Comey paying an author but I will say that in an investigation of this magnitude I would vastly prefer a bias against the president than a bias for the president. Honestly, you should too. It does look suspicious. But there are people here who will blindly disagree and that won't change even if Trump openly admitted to some wrongdoing on live television.
Some people here would still be claiming he was innocent and was forced to confess because liberals or something. I always love the responses that read like "well the democrats did it". Well it's good to know you think you're just as awful as you claim the democrats are lol...

This is could easily be the case here. That's a strong accusation you are implying there. Have any proof that Trump fired Comey for reasons other than what was noted in his letter (which references the AG and DAG's recommendations, one of which I was kind enough to post screenshots of)? All you have honestly is circumstantial at best. Honestly, I think you are creating ghosts to condemn Trump on something that he should have done a long time ago. eliroo said: » I mean the way I see it is that it was a huge risk firing Comey during the Trump investigation. I think it is pretty obvious that they felt the need to do it now. Politico: All about Russia
Quote: Behind Comey’s firing: An enraged Trump, fuming about Russia The president deliberated for more than a week before ousting the FBI chief who was investigating Trump associates. President Donald Trump weighed firing his FBI director for more than a week. When he finally pulled the trigger Tuesday afternoon, he didn't call James Comey. He sent his longtime private security guard to deliver the termination letter in a manila folder to FBI headquarters. He had grown enraged by the Russia investigation, two advisers said, frustrated by his inability to control the mushrooming narrative around Russia. He repeatedly asked aides why the Russia investigation wouldn’t disappear and demanded they speak out for him. He would sometimes scream at television clips about the probe, one adviser said. Trump's firing of the high-profile FBI director on the 110th day since the president took office marked another sudden turn for an administration that has fired its acting attorney general, national security adviser and now its FBI director, whom Trump had praised until recent weeks and had even blew a kiss to during a January appearance. The news stunned Comey, who saw news of his dismissal on TV while speaking inside the FBI office in Los Angeles. It startled all but the uppermost ring of White House advisers, who said grumbling about Comey hadn't dominated their own morning senior staff meetings. Other top officials learned just before it happened and were unaware Trump was considering firing Comey. "Nobody really knew," one senior White House official said. "Our phones all buzzed and people said, 'What?'" By ousting the FBI director investigating his campaign and associates, Trump may have added more fuel to the fire he is furiously trying to contain — and he was quickly criticized by a chorus of Republicans and Democrats. "The timing of this firing was very troubling," said Sen. Ben Sasse, a Nebraska Republican. Trump had grown angry with the Russia investigation — particularly Comey admitting in front of the Senate that the FBI was investigating his campaign — and that the FBI director wouldn't support his claims that President Barack Obama had tapped his phones in Trump Tower. Bipartisan criticism of Comey had mounted since last summer after the director delivered lengthy statement outlining why no charges would be brought against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for her use of a private email server. But the fallout seemed to take the White House by surprise. Trump made a round of calls around 5 p.m., asking for support from senators. White House officials believed it would be a "win-win" because Republicans and Democrats alike have problems with the FBI director, one person briefed on their deliberations said. Instead, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer told him he was making a big mistake — and Trump seemed "taken aback," according to a person familiar with the call. By Tuesday evening, the president was watching the coverage of his decision and frustrated no one was on TV defending him, a White House official said. He wanted surrogates out there beating the drum. Pretty hard to spin it as a good move when you take the approach of it was "because of the Clinton probe a year ago" when everyone knows it was all about Russia. Offline

Look Comey is a pussy and he couldn't follow through on the charges. He should be fired for that.
If the Gorsuch nomination fight is any indication, Democrats won't accept any FBI director Trump chooses that is right of Michael Moore.

If Trump fired Comey because Comey found some collusion between Trump and Russia, then that's grounds for impeachment, and Comey would be vindicated.
