Man hugs police in Riot Gear

Quote:
On the third night of demonstrations in Charlotte, N.C., one man attempted to diffuse tension between police and protesters with hugs and was heckled by the crowd.

Thursday night’s gathering in Charlotte was the most peaceful night of protests there since demonstrations over the fatal police shooting of Keith Lamont Scott erupted into violence on Tuesday. North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory declared a state of emergency and deployed the National Guard to help local police, who used tear gas Wednesday night after protesters started blocking interstate traffic, looting local businesses and throwing bottles at cars.

Amid Wednesday night’s chaos, a protester was fatally shot in the head by another civilian, authorities reported.

The image of a young man in a “Free Hugs” T-shirt, embracing a line of officers clad in riot gear, seemed to symbolize the move toward much more peaceful demonstrations Thursday.

But not everyone was moved by the gesture. Fellow protesters yelled obscenities at the man as he offered hugs and kind words to the officers.

In return, the man tried to reason with his critics, insisting, “I hurt just like you guys hurt,” and arguing that it’s unfair to label all cops as killers: “None of these people here shot anyone.”

if we had the same level of freedoms and privacy as 1776 this world would be a more peaceful place and americans would be a helluva lot happier. i am not talking about slavery during 1776 i am talking about the freedoms
America had far less rights and freedoms in 1776 than they do today.

Perhaps you should study up on actual historical facts, than the ones you happen to make up in your head.

No they had far more Rights and freedoms.

Here you go again thinking i want slavery i don't want that, here you go again thinking i want to take away women's rights to vote, i don't want to do that. We will still maintain the same civil rights today if not better civil rights.

I know you and a few others like to mention that i want everything to go back to the stones ages and you are absolutely wrong thinking that. We will still be driving cars, still be flying in planes still be doing everything we are doing today, except things will be MUCH MUCH cheaper, energy costs will be MUCH MUCH cheaper. There will be significantly less laws and regulations i'm not getting rid of everything there will still be laws.

It will not be chaos or anarchy although some US posters here think it is for some odd reason is beyond me i just think they are afraid of having Rights and afraid of having a more freer Nation. Actually i think some of the US posters here are afraid of a the United States being more free period. It's like they enjoy the oppression hundred of thousands of laws bearing down on them ,or paying higher taxes on property, or having to pay fees to get permits for different licenses for privileges. Rights are FREE they cannot be monetized.

Here's a few taxes that could be repealed, trust me there is still going to be taxes ( kingnobody you will still have your job don't worry you paranoid cry baby), but we will have a significantly lot LESSER then we have today. Because in my United States of America we will have Representation for Taxation and i hear americans every day i am work every day i am shopping for groceries with my family every day i am walking around town they want LESS TAXES.

Meh, two days early. I still bring up a valid point, that a bit over half of Trump's businesses usually end in failure.

Hey give the guy credit at least he was trying to create jobs, its a tough market out there there's always going to be competition which is beautiful maybe some other companies beat him out its a risk to take. Sometimes its works sometimes it fails. At the end of the day you can say he is still successful he has more money then all of us combined on this website.

With the first debate being tonight, I think this would be relevant to share here.
12 Trump businesses that no longer exist
Quote:
Trump Mortgage (announced in 2006 – closed in 2007)
What happened: Trump launched his own mortgage company, and his son predicted that it would be the No. 1 home-loan lender in the US. And then ... the housing market completely crashed in 2007. Trump's mortgage company was shut down after a year and a half.

Shortly after the company's launch Trump said on CNBC: "I think it's a great time to start a mortgage company ... who knows about financing better than I do?"

Trump Steaks (2007 – unknown)
What happened: Trump launched his name-brand steaks specifically for Sharper Image (and naturally graced the cover of the Sharper Image catalogue) in 2007. They have since been discontinued.

The prices ranged from $199 for a pack of 12 steak burgers and four steaks, all the way up to $999 for a selection of 16 top cuts.

Bonus: The Trump Steakhouse in Las Vegas was briefly shut down following 51 health code violations, including expired yogurt and five-month old duck.

What Trump said about his namesake meats: "When it comes to great steaks, I've just raised the stakes! ... Trump Steaks are the world's greatest steaks ... Treat yourself to the very, very best life has to offer ... One bite and you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. And believe me: I understand steaks. They're my favorite food."

Trump Vodka (2006 – circa 2011)
What happened: Trump dipped his toes into the "super premium" vodka industry around 2006. It's unclear when exactly Trump Vodka was shut down, but by 2011 the drink was no longer being produced "under the Trump trademark because the company failed to meet the threshold requirements," Trump's people said, according to Gothamist.

However, perhaps Trump should have considered expanding into the global "super premium" vodka market. Much to his annoyance, in 2011 Trump's name-brand vodkas were being sold in Israel without authorization.

What Trump said about the vodka when it launched: "By the summer of '06, I fully expect the most called for cocktail in America to be the T&T or the Trump and Tonic."

Trump: The Game (1989 – 1990, 2005)
What happened: Trump first released his own pseudo-Monopoly board game in 1989, but it didn't sell well at all and was discontinued after a year. After the success of his TV show, he revived and updated the game in 2005.

You can still purchase the game today via several online retailers.

What Trump's promo said: "Parker Brothers and Donald Trump are challenging consumers to determine whether they have the brains and the brawn to be the next Donald Trump with the launch of TRUMP the Game, the new high-stakes board game, where if you play your cards right, you can make hundreds of millions of dollars, just like The Donald.

Trump Ice (Shut down in 2010)
What happened: Trump Ice has been available at Trump's casinos for some time, and according to Trump "it was so good that people wanted to buy cases of it!" So the bottles were produced and distributed to the masses. They never hit it big.

You can still find bottles on eBay if you're interested in tasting the "purest" bottled water. And although it was discontinued, the official Trump website says that you can find Trump Ice at "specialty food stores and grocery chains nationwide."

What Trump said about the bottle design: "It is fiery, isn't it? It's fire and ice! The water puts out the fire."

GoTrump.com (2006 – 2007)
What happened: GoTrump.com was a search engine for bargains on luxury travel deals. It was powered by Travelocity.com, so it started off pretty well. However, the site was quickly ripped apart by critics, and it was shut down after a year.

What Trump said when he launched the site: "It doesn't matter how rich you are. You don't want to be a fool and you want to get the best deal. But people who aren't rich want to associate with rich, and that's why this thing has become so crazy."

"When you get millions of people using your service, and you get X dollars per person, it adds up to a lot of money."

Trump Magazine (2007 – 2009)
What happened: The Trump magazine was a collaboration between the Trump brand and what is now called Niche Media. It launched with glitz and loads of PR but was shut down after two years. According to the press release, "the quarterly magazine saw early success, cashing in on the booming advertising market for yachts and other high-end commodities."

2007 to 2009 was probably a difficult time for the "booming advertising market for yachts."

Before the first issue came out, The New York Times asked whether Donald Trump would be on the first issue's cover.

How Trump replied to that: "Only if they want to sell a lot of magazines."

Ultimately, his daughter Ivanka Trump graced the debut issue's cover.

The New Jersey Generals (1983 – 1985)
What happened: Trump originally owned the The New Jersey Generals — a United States Football League team — but quickly sold them to focus on construction projects like the Trump Tower. Later he changed his mind, reacquiring the team in 1984.

The team folded one year later, in 1985, along with the entire USFL. People blamed Trump for the demise of not only the team, but the entire league. Allegedly, he was trying to pull the Generals into the NFL — and made poor investment decisions in the process.

In May 2014, Trump expressed interest in buying the Buffalo Bills.

What Trump said: "Without me, the USFL would have been dead immediately. It was a league that was failing badly ... I did something I rarely do with the USFL. I went into something that was not good, not established. And it was failing. I knew that but I also went in for cheap. I bought something for peanuts."

He also called the USFL a "second-rate operation."

Trump Airlines (1989 – 1992)
What happened: Trump bought Eastern Air Shuttle in 1988, which had been running for 27 years between Boston, NYC, and D.C., and updated it to make it look more glitzy and Trump-esque. But because it was a short-distance airline, customers weren't looking for a luxury experience — just something that was convenient. The style-savvy investment was a bust.

On top of that, the pre-Gulf War fuel prices were extremely high. The airline never turned profit, and Trump defaulted on his loans.

What Trump said about the airlines in retrospect: "It worked out well for me ... I ran an airline for a couple of years and made a couple of bucks. The airline business is a tough business, [but] I did great with it."

Trump Entertainment Resorts Inc. — 4 bankruptcies (1991, 2004, 2009, 2014)
What happened: Trump Entertainment Resorts filed for corporate bankruptcy four times. The first time was after the Trump Taj Mahal's construction in 1991. The next time was in 2004, when it "filed for voluntary bankruptcy after accumulating $1.8 billion in debt." Next came 2008-2009, when the company missed a $53.1 million bond interest payment. (The stock dropped to 23 cents per share from $4.)

And finally, in September 2014, the company filed for bankruptcy once again.

(The company still exists despite its bankruptcy.)

What Trump said about the bankruptcies in court: "I don't like the 'B' word."

Additionally, during an MSNBC interview, Michael Isikoff asked Trump what exactly he was paid for if he "had nothing to do with running the company."

And Trump replied to that: "Excuse me ... Because of my genius. OK?"

Trump Tower Tampa (2006 – 2007)
What happened: There's a history of buildings that paid to be called "Donald Trump developments" but ultimately never became anything. One of these is Trump Tower Tampa.

Trump said he never had any plans to develop the building himself and that he only licensed his name to other developers.

Nothing ever came of Trump Tower Tampa, and the buyers lost a lot of money on the deal. The site was finally sold in 2011 for $5 million.

What Trump said in retrospect: "[The buyers] were better off losing their deposit."

Trump University (2005 – 2011)
What happened: In 2005, Trump opened Trump University, a for-profit but non-accredited school where he would bestow his industry expertise upon the masses — aka anyone who forked over $35,000. That same year, he licensed his name to an affiliate program called the Trump Institute.

In 2010, four students sued the "university" for "offering classes that amounted to extended 'infomercials,' 'selling non-accredited products,' and 'taking advantage of these troubled economic times to prey on consumer's fears.'"

The "university" then changed its name to "The Trump Entrepreneur Initiative."

And in 2013, the New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman sued Trump and Trump University for allegedly defrauding students.

The business officially ended operations in 2011.

Trump compared his ideas to Einstein's in the "Trump University Entrepreneurship 101" official book: "Albert Einstein believed that a 'Theory of Everything' in physics unified the four primal forces of nature: gravity, strong nuclear force, weak nuclear force, and electromagnetic force. Our unifying theory for sustainable success in business is so much simpler. [...] The Customer Is Everything!"

What Trump said about Trump University: "I went to the Wharton School of Finance ... I have a great feeling for education and for knowledge and learning … I love the idea of helping people, because I’ve had a lot of experience with real estate, to put it mildly."

You keep saying that we will, but you have yet to show any evidence of it.

You can't go from point A to point B without moving down line C. You need to explain (line C) how we can go from what we have today (point A) to your "ideal" America (point B). It doesn't just magically happen.

To be honest, we aren't afraid of a "freer" US. We are against your notion that this country no longer have the freedoms you say we don't. You think that slavery exists, and that every citizen is a slave to whatever ludicrous notion you have going on in that tin-foil brain of yours.

Let me make this simple for you: Before you can fix a problem, you have to define it. Defining a problem isn't just pointing it out, you have to also figure out what the problem is and make a plan to fix it. You need 3 things to define a problem, which is 1) Identify it, 2) Analyze it, and 3) Come up with a workable solution to fix it. At the very least, you barely are able to identify it, and even then, it's ludicrous.

You still haven't defined a problem.

That list of taxes you said you were going to abolish, that's pretty much all the taxes (and some of those aren't taxes, they are fees for public services, such as court fees, environmental fees, disposal fees to name a few) in the US. You said you weren't going to abolish all taxes, but if you abolish those taxes listed, what taxes are left? And how are you going to fund local/state/federal government? And the taxes listed, not one person pays them all. A lot of those taxes are business-only taxes and not paid for by the consumer or average citizen.

I'm sorry, I was replying to the last sentence, the one where you say:

Siren.Lordgrim said: »
We will still maintain the same civil rights today if not better civil rights.

But you constantly keep wanting to revive America 1776. You can't revive America 1776 without also reviving everything that was occurring in America 1776, which includes slavery, lack of women's rights, lack of corporate regulations that frankly, we really need because not every human being is trustworthy, just to name a few.

We may not be perfect today, but we are a much better society today than we were in 1776. And we can thank expanded freedoms to that.

Because today, women have the same rights at men, African Americans have the same rights as Caucasians (although some people still believe that they don't), and you have the right to spout the nonsense you spout, and the government cannot arrest you for it, although you are talking about treason all the freaking time!

Siren.Lordgrim said: »

It's not the points that we question, it's how to get from point A to point B that we question.

You don't just magically get elected president of the US. And if you think that you do, then why isn't everyone president?

Let's look at the list of president's and where they lived before they became president:

List said:
#1 - George Washington - Virginia
#2 - John Adams - Massachusetts
#3 - Thomas Jefferson - Virginia
#4 - James Madison - Virginia
#5 - James Monroe - Virginia
...
#39 - Ronald Reagan - California
#40 - George Bush - Texas, because *** yeah!
#41 - Bill Clinton - Arkansas
#42 - George W. Bush - Texas, because *** yeah!
#43 - Barrack Obama - Illinois

By the looks of it, they don't come from Washington D.C.

Or are you going to deny that and say they do?

That's correct. And, as a American citizen, I have the right to not vote for you. And I won't. And so will the other 146 million registered voters.

I'll survive my first term and potential 2nd term because i am a survivor.
When your policies destroy the economy due to your irrational hatred of the Federal Reserve plunging the US workforce to a 99% unemployment rate, completely devastating the world economy which will lead every single country declaring war against us, and making a global recession that will last much longer than your perceived survival rate, I highly doubt you will live past your first year, much less your first term.

But at the very least, after the fallout, the survivors will rise from the ashes and create a better society for humanity. They will have no choice because in order to survive, they will need to actually cooperate and put aside the differences we have long-held and ingrained into our society. So, while your policies will destroy the world, take solace in the fact that you will either create a better society from the ashes of your arrogance, or do what we needed to do a long time ago, and wipe humans from the face of the earth.

All that from just one of your policies.

We got better robots over here you should check out some of nation's robotics programs. Its pretty impressive and sorta scary in the same way. In my opinion i hate the idea of machines taking over human jobs it's one of the many reasons we are seeing large unemployment numbers around the nation because some industries are switching over to machines to do jobs humans use to do.

I'm sorry, I was replying to the last sentence, the one where you say:

Siren.Lordgrim said: »
We will still maintain the same civil rights today if not better civil rights.

But you constantly keep wanting to revive America 1776. You can't revive America 1776

Because today, women have the same rights at men, African Americans have the same rights as Caucasians (although some people still believe that they don't).

I absolutely can go from point A to point B i meet the requirements to run for President of the United States of America
It's not the points that we question, it's how to get from point A to point B that we question.

You don't just magically get elected president of the US. And if you think that you do, then why isn't everyone president?

Yes i can revive America 1776 and restore the the freedoms and rights We The People " Use" to have. Also before you ask "what did we lose ?" I want you to look at all the laws we have in the united states of america. Laws take away freedoms and rights and during my term of service i will work with congress repealing thousands of Laws saving the american people a lot of money in the process of doing so. Laws cost American taxpayers money and i want to make sure i keep the american people's money in there own pockets and not the governments.

I clearly said "We will still maintain the same civil rights today if not better civil rights". I even bolded it in the quote above. I am not sure if you came to your own conclusion again that i want to take away people's civil rights which i do not want to do. I want to give even more civil rights back to them. Do you have a problem with American citizens having more civil rights if so suck it up i'm going to give them more.

I agree with you about you don't get magically elected president of the united states of america magically. It takes votes casted by american citizens and electoral college votes as well and i do understand how many i will need.

I'll give you credit for voting even if you do not vote for me but your vote alone does not mean i can't be the president. Also you do not speak for the rest of the over 350 million citizens of the united states of america and their voting choice. I understand there is a possibility of me not winning. I do not give up i'll just have to wait another 4 years. I strongly believe Americans are fed up with these political party organizations and they want their government back Constitution Restored and i will do that for them with there help.

Not only do i want to see products with the Label stamp "Made In The USA" i want to also see under that Label stamp " Made by a Human"

Technology can be a blessing but in the arena of manufacturing jobs in the united states it can be a human job stealer. This will be one of the issues we as a nation will have to face together to keep Americans working. I believe we can put Americans back to work with leadership that is on the side of American workers.

I agree with Trump about bringing jobs back to US shores he won't be the only President that will continue to fight to do this. I will continue the fight in 2020 when elected.

I remember when Chanti asked me if we could have a Honest Government.

i still believe we can have a honest government.

Yes we can if we want it.

1.The first step is acknowledging you have a Dishonest government.

2.The second step is self educating yourself to make your government Honest.

3. Are you tired of being lied to ?

4.Are you tired of being used and taken advantage of ?

Dishonest governments don't get tired of lieing and taking advantage of the people.

I'm going to use the United States of America as a example.

The establishment of the Democrat and Republican political parties has done a amazing job of psychologically and physically wearing down and discouraging voting to significantly change anything.

They have achieved this by establishing Government depending programs, by relaxing on labor laws to a point where American workers are seeing 80 hour work weeks, or need two to 3 jobs just to get by. Add on top of this the constant barrage of propaganda warfare in our media that works with the establishment which distracts the American people from what's really going on in government. We are so tired and worn down that we no longer think about government because we are just trying to survive. This leads to discouragement that nothing will ever change and this leads the American people away from the ballot box further proving the point on how the establishment wins.

The establishment has this down to a science to every 2 to 4 and 6 years elections happen in the House of Representatives, the Presidency, and Senate not to forget the establishment Judges who are appointed to their seats.
They literally go unchallenged except amoung themselves and win with tens of millions of votes when in reality there is over 350 million citizens because of the above paragraph.

Yes we can have a Honest government if we honestly anwser the top 4 questions. I'll go first.

1. Yes I acknowledge I have a Dishonest government.

2. Yes I have self educated myself on how government works and how to make my government Honest.

A. I will vote every 2 to 4 and 6 years and every chance I get to do my part to win the battle against the Dishonest establishment to fill the seats to make my government Honest because I love my country. I will teach my children and my fellow citizens the same so we can keep a Honest government.

B. I feel comfortable with my ability to lead to challenge the establishment and will run for any high office where I feel I can make my government Honest. Because I love my country I will teach my children and fellow citizens to aspire the same so we can keep a Honest government.

C. I have not underestimated the Establishment Courts and Judges and I will make it my purpose to serve Jury Duty when selected. Because I understand that the Jury and Grand Jury have more authority than the Attorney General, the Judge's , Congress, the President and the Constitution and I will make my government Honest. Because I love my country I will teach my children and fellow citizens to serve Jury Duty so we can keep a Honest government.

3. Yes I am tired of being lied to.

4. Yes I am tired of being used and taken advantage of and will do my part to make my government Honest.

Waitafrickingminute.

I have often sewn for my living but always with a sewing machine. Is that "Made by a Human"? How about if I use a modern, computerized, programmable sewing machine? I guarantee you that seamstresses in mid century Hong Kong did it all by hand. That is the baseline for "Made by a Human". What's the end point?

Its a slippery slope.

The end point is putting as many american workers back to work in as many industry fields as possible. I understand what you mean by for the baseline "Made by a Human" and yes machines and technology are made by humans. It's not a slippery slop at all, i will need to be visiting the United States Department of Labor to work out some policies that could possibly lead to the United States of America's 3rd Industrial Revolution putting americans back to work in these 50 states from sea to shining sea

It's inevitable though. For every group of people that perform manual work there will be half that will take over as programmer/maintenance staff of the machine that substitute them(already happened and happening in many areas). So we have shifting jobs and shifting popular sectors but of course it isn't sustainable in the long run, so the options are either to
1. halt progress, which I find ridiculuous
2. work towards welfare states because the future doesn't have jobs for everyone...but that's so socialist! Okay then I guess there's the third option too..
3. let them eat cakes

I don't know why we can't just hire someone to take my goddamn phone call.

Hell, even the telemarketers have them now as do the people who buy debt just to bug you about it. I don't owe debt but I do get calls for some reason. You get an automated call that tells you to stay on the line. You don't call me over to put me on hold, that's how ***doesn't work.

Also, I never understood why third-party debt collection is legal. I don't think you should be able to buy someone's debt and personal information.
