The use internet for politics is used by one of the major parties here in Italy(which came to be for 2013 elections).

It's a complete shitshow.
The leader of the party blocks and bans any comment that doesn't fall in line with the desired ideology so to make it look like every countryman posting online agrees with their ideas!
They vote online people to boot from the party..
"this guy said something we don't like so vote:
1. boot now
2. boot after making his life miserable"

This all comes from a pseudo-philosopher who was behind the creation of this party(died this year)who believed that real democracy could be achieved using internet.

Except that people remain people.

Consolidating power in one place is a recipe for jet fuel melting steel beams. Whoever controls the forums or moderates would have the ability to influence things.

This is a thing with Facebook, a thing with this site and a thing with every forum ever.

The best forums are ones that are narrow, focus on a singlar hobby/topic and have enthusiastic that don't see the place as their pet project or delegate moderation to their small crowd. It's generally why the best subreddits on Reddit are obscure or niche where the big, popular reddits are pure trash.

I was laughing pretty hard today when I read that Anthony weiner stated that he would come out of retirement if Donald trumps son were to run for mayor of New York to beat him like a rented mule then turn the keys back over to deblasio again...

And Trump just did what Trump does best. He has hijacked the top news away from the Democrats and the media is on the verge of a freak out. Keep an eye out, it's about to get interesting.

His call to have Russia or any other nation go find clintons deleted emails? I think for the most part he's just being the Donald and trying to play off the allegations that Russia was involved in the back of the dnc emails...

But even as a joke it's fairly dangerous to call for a foreign power to get access to emails the Republican Party has pretty much been attempting to crucify Hillary for possibly making it easy for the same foreign powers to gain access to said documents by taking the actions she did in storing her emails on a private server in the first place...

The answer is no, neither the burrito nor the microwave oven existed in pre-modern Jerusalem!

It seemed like a sarcastic comment. The media is not reporting it as such. It was still a stupid thing to say, but context was never a concern for the media. He laid down the bait, and they're biting HARD.

Not only that, but we are more civil towards each other, even with differing mindsets, than any other forum out there, especially ones that talk about P&R.

I think Ramy is full of ***when it comes to unions, but I would gladly have a beer with him and talk about it. Probably wouldn't even get as heated in person than on this forum.

Vic is a Clinton fanboy through and through, but really, he isn't so bad. He even likes the Spurs, and that's a big plus in my book.

Pleebo is gung-ho about climate warming, and good for him. I'll still attend his wedding with Pablo if he invited me (protip: don't. I don't want to give you a wedding present).

Kojo is Oklahomian.....and I can't find anything good to say about him. Probably wouldn't punch him in the face if we ever met, that's something?
