Apradar Or Mappy

Returning player. Was wanting to get APradar or Mappy working as im not too fond of the FFXIBD plugin for various reasons. I tried looking around for about an hour last night through various ways of getting it to work (updating .ini and mappacks) couldn't figure it out. Anyone have a simplistic break down of what to download, where to download it, and where to install/place files and folders that's very layman?
