Quote: And as soon as it's proven - I'll take under consideration the possibility. Siren.Akson said: » Nothing has ever been proven as factual. Life beyond earth is just as much fantasy as life after death at this point. No, it isn't. Because we have mountains of evidence suggesting it's out there and we simply haven't found it. You do not understand science, so you think of it as a belief, just like religion. You're simply wrong. Sorry, but that's the case. Siren.Akson said: » I guess I'm just saying the whole idea is fascinating at the very least and personally I wouldn't be too surprised if either or was proven to be factual that they exist or they are some how tied together. Finding a higher being in the universe would be the most damaging blow to religion ever. It would give answers that would almost assuredly counter the nonsense of religious doctrine; it would invalidate belief with fact. How the hell did this thread get on this topic, anyhow?
It's probably my fault. It usually is. I indulge lunacy too much. It started with a statement from Charlo that was as usually way off there.

If one makes a claim it should not be taken seriously until it can be proven What the everloving hell is this drivel? Time to backread.
Simply put
Quote: Alien life, such as microorganisms, has been hypothesized to exist in the Solar System and throughout the universe. This hypothesis relies on the vast size and consistent physical laws of the observable universe. According to this argument, made by scientists such as Carl Sagan and Stephen Hawking,[8] it would be improbable for life not to exist somewhere other than Earth.[9][10] This argument is embodied in the Copernican principle, which states that Earth does not occupy a unique position in the Universe, and the mediocrity principle, which states that there is nothing special about life on Earth.[11] The chemistry of life may have begun shortly after the Big Bang, 13.8 billion years ago, during a habitable epoch when the universe was only 10–17 million years old.[12][13][14] Life may have emerged independently at many places throughout the universe. Alternatively, life may have formed less frequently, then spread—by meteoroids, for example—between habitable planets in a process called panspermia.[15][16] In any case, complex organic molecules may have formed in the protoplanetary disk of dust grains surrounding the Sun before the formation of Earth.[17] According to these studies, this process may occur outside Earth on several planets and moons of the Solar System and on planets of other stars.[17] Siren.Akson said: » Ramyrez said: » Siren.Akson said: » Nothing has ever been proven as factual. So, you have it backwards. Bahamut.Milamber said: » To be pedantic, the international space station, and and a good number of man-made objects that have left earth (despite hideously rigorous cleansing)? You can't prove something doesn't exist, it's a logical paradox. It's the one claiming something exists that has to bring proof to the discussion.
So about those emirates..have you heard they said Iraq's sovereignity should be protected involving the kurds too?? (a statement from only one year ago, but I couldn't find anything new and this topic is a poopshow) Caitsith.Shiroi said: » Siren.Akson said: » No I have zero to prove. I just don't dismiss other ppl's stories as Fiction so easily without proving them as liars 1st. The way you think, nothing can be proven. Thus I can claim you are a black muslism mexican rapist and you can do nothing to possibly prove I'm a liar. so... they stopped the plan huh?.......
how many pages back is it? So much God of the gaps here. If we were talking 200 years ago you'd be saying only hypothesis exists on powered flight, therefore science is wrong. Or maybe in the 12th century I'd have been laughed at if I considered that one day that black powder might be the birth of modern firearms.
But now we got motherfucking attack helicopters and jets, it's all gravy. You believe it because it's finished and you retroactively work it into your worldview. Wonderful. Study of space and of the properties of space is still in its infancy. Religion has had centuries to come up with something approaching unanimous and roughly it's still a bunch of tribal, poo flinging from the homo sapiens. Are we seriously talking about the supernatural and if it exists or not?

Jesus was obviously a white mage, and we can blame Judas all day for failing SATA and ending up mpking him; but he had a 12-men party, which was mostly made of buffers and poor dps oracles sure, but WHO WAS THE TANK?! Someone was supposed to voke when Jesus got aggro!!

What convictions are you talking about, being an atheist is pretty much just not believing in Gods. I think it's fairly simple. We don't have to hate people who do. To be an atheist means not believing in God true. But this leads one to believe in a materialistic view of the universe. The best pushed theory being evolution at this point.(many problems of this theory with observation and evidence and logic) You obviously are keen to show your pride in how intelligent people who think this way are. Cleverest than those it mocks. The dilemma. Now if we were to go by your worldview then believing in God in no more than an illusionary construct by our brains to help dealing with death. As someone has already pointed out. You laugh and mock people who subscribe to this, calling on them to not believe the obvious illusionary lie their brains are cooking up. But. In your world view even emotions are illusionary constructs of the brain. Take love. In your view love is no more than an illusionary lie to help us.(although it also can have the opposite effect) Now how many of you subscribe to this. Do you tell your wife, kids, family and friends you love them. Are you not a self confessed liar and hypocrite? Which illusionary lie should we keep and who are you to say which we should lose? In your worldview your living in a world of lies and illusions. But are happy living as a hypocrite mocking other that subscribe to illusions that differ from your own. If I were to have any respect for you putting down people having feelings of God, you would have to forgo all emotion too. Now imagine a world where everyone does that. A cold, joyless, robotic world. Now the believer on the other hand believes emotions come from God and love is a reflection of his nature. By which the believer, in their world view, is living in truth. Good thing we know emotions come from hormonal reactions and are not "illusions and lies".
I mean I know you don't get anything about science, you're the same guy who claimed evolution to be an impossible concept in another thread. Good times. |
