Quote: You can dwell on all the negatives through out human history. Meaning yeah everyone has done "scumbags" things not just religious ppl but every nation on earth as well at one point in time or another. Ditto. Quote: Yet our whole way of life comes from Christianity Patently false, see first statement. Quote: and many men have lost thier lives fighting for things you take for granted apparently. Universally true if you live in the U.S. unless you're stopping to thank every man, woman, and child who has died in the history of this nation and this nation's ancestors in prior centuries/millennia every time you do literally anything. Quote: Nobody's forcing ya to believe in anything but that doesn't mean you should bash ppl who do. Sort of what we -- or at least I -- am saying. So quit with the blanket Muslim persecution. Quote: Not everyone is good. Not everyone is evil. It's impossible to judge everyone as if they're all just the same So don't paint all Muslims, Christians, atheists, or members of the Esoteric Order of Dagon with the same brush. ****Have not read all posts prior to this, sorry if anything is incorrect because it's out of context**** I truly wish people would understand that while I can't speak for anyone else, I am not -- in all of this terrorist/Islam discussion -- defending Muslims and specifically trying to attack Christians, I'm just saying people who proclaim to believe in freedom of religion and defend Christianity are really off base if they think attacking all of the Muslim faith over terrorism is an okay thing to do. Under our Constitution you have a right to believe what you want to believe. If you want to start chipping away at our freedoms because of your fear, you are the one trying to rewrite the Constitution. That is a fact. Offline

I speak for all Muslims in saying "We are sorry for ruining America"

Best for the fund themselves if the retirees blow themselves up. (Sorry, forgive me for asking, when I see IRA that's what I think about). I'm going to have to quote you on this the next time gun control is discussed. I am not a specific advocate of gun control per se. I can see the appeal and I think the interpretation of the second amendment is extremely liberal (ironically) for many hardcore gun "enthusiasts." But as I have stated numerous times, I'm of the opinion that America's gun problem has little to do with the guns themselves. Take away all the guns you want, until you change people's attitudes and behaviors, guns will be a problem. Guess I'm the only one here who thinks no constitution should be written in stone(which I also think is a bad metaphor anyway cause you can actually alter something written in stone too...but anyway!)

Given we've changed it 27 times -- in some cases the same part more than once -- obviously ours isn't "written in stone" either. Then why is there always someone arguing "oh no they wanna change it"?

Prohibition says hi. Then summarily kicked out the door a little more than a decade later. Also a perfect example of how to not change the constitution to suit the needs of society at a certain or specific time. Just imagine if our forefathers had it in the constitution that no woman should be allowed to vote or owning slaves is a specific freedom only allowed to specific people. ***like that would have gotten our constitution crossed/scratched/marked all over more than a politician's fact sheet. I'm pretty sure Thomas Jefferson thought that we should ban assault rifles.

Who needs founding fathers for a country just do what ISIS does kill a bunch of people and start your own country.
Well, let's keep in mind that -- at least the theory goes -- the higher it is on the list, the more important it is. The "Bill of Rights" being the first 10 and generally most "treasured" rights.
Free speech/religion and guns are numbers one and two, and there has been countless debate about the nature of those through the years and there likely always will be. Changing those two -- or even interpreting them -- is nearly always met with great big, angry dialogue. Which is probably a good thing, because the only way that will stop is with a lot of blood.
