Carbuncle.Galmaximas said: » the United States allowed Jewish European Refugees to enter the United States during WW2 (Hollocaust) what's the difference here? I wasn't aware Jews shot innocent people and committed suicide bombings. No but the Germans shot a great deal of innocent people and though they didn't do many suicide bombings in there day the sure did mass murder millions of people via gas chambers Neither did Syrian refugees ISIS members posing as refugees did Carbuncle.Galmaximas said: » Weren't the Nazis the ISIS of their era? Not even comparable. why isn't it comparable? because you deem it so? Carbuncle.Galmaximas said: » here is a fun fact according to the U.S Census as of 2000 the United States had 42,841,569 Germans living in the United States which was over 15% of the population. Another fun fact. Germans immigrated to this country before and after WW2. So you're agreeing with my claim that this country was founded on European immigration? Hades.Altimaomega

Hades.Altimaomega said: » Thanks Obama? This one is more on private industry though I'm sure the government's done their share too thanks to their buddy-buddy nature with plenty of arms manufacturers. I see a couple of hundred of these refugees on a daily basis, since March. They really don't pose any threat. Especially to a country that was known for killing Muslims, they haven't done anything to them. If they were a threat I would have expected something by now.

And leaving arms behind when they are no longer in a war zone to save money and effort in bringing things home.

We also have no problem shooting ourselves soo... Oh okay then.. I didn't realize they didn't have guns or bombs. Open up the gates I'm sure everything is gonna be just fine. So what is the real issue. Let's stop dancing around the table here. It only takes two sentences to say it is a Muslim thing or something. So what is it? It's not a "Muslim" thing because ISIS' ideology doesn't speak for all Muslims. This is an extremist thing where those indoctrinated into the twisted version of Islam want into our country to do harm here. It's already been established that the mastermind behind the Paris attacks entered France under the guise of being a refugee so rest assured that will have an impact on the scrutiny of those trying to enter the U.S. Are there refugees and victims of the war in the middle east trying to come here legitimately to start a new life of freedom and safety? Yes. Are there people who will try to enter the country pretending to fall into the above category but have ulterior motives. Yes. Bloodrose said: » And leaving arms behind when they are no longer in a war zone to save money and effort in bringing things home. The U.S. hasn't fought a lot of wars in Mexico in the past few decades. We're talking small arms here, not abandoned equipment that takes dedicated trips to haul back. Offline

You forget about arms brokers who travel around and forage for arms to sell them to nations or people or groups requesting them for happy sums.

That's a few days old though, willing to entertain newer evidence. Bloodrose said: » You forget about arms brokers who travel around and forage for arms to sell them to nations or people or groups requesting them for happy sums. Undoubtedly a contributing factor, but far from the main one. Like I said, in this case while government inaction and the wink-and-nodding may be taking place, it is not the primary culprit. Heavy read. The conclusion: Quote: Given these empirical findings, we conclude that ongoing government efforts to regulate firearms trade and trafficking across the U.S.-Mexico border are largely ineffective. Notwithstanding improvements in the efficacy of Mexican authorities in seizing illicit firearms between 2008-2009, they are still meager in relation to the overall volume of weapons likely crossing the border. The scale of the trade demonstrates that the United States is an important contributor to the global supply of firearms in illicit markets. It also draws attention to the particular function of domestic firearms regulation and the concomitant responsibilities of U.S. authorities. Taken together, smarter policies are required to combat firearms trafficking, including (1) the public disclosure of disaggregated gun sales; (2) background checks geared toward identifying straw purchasers; (3) the prohibition of cash transactions in firearms sales in border states; and (4) the creation of a Mexican database of seized firearms. You on the other hand don't want them to come, and the best you have come up with is you don't want useless people shooting us and blowing us up. So unless we become Japan overnight I don't need a reason to say "let them in". Cerberus.Avalon said: » Are there people who will try to enter the country pretending to fall into the above category but have ulterior motives. Yes. They don't have to. The 9/11 hijackers certainly didn't have to come to this country pretending to be refugees. Homeland Security didn't exist then nor did we have nearly the robust emphasis on national security that we do today. The FBI, CIA, NSA, etc didn't share information and communicate with each other effectively back then either, which is why the hijackers established a deceptive life here (attending flight school, and so on). Edit: Also, as a point of order, seeing as he's from Texas, my discussion of Mexico's gun problem being supplied by dealers in the US is also a factor there. Funny. It's almost like we're a global community and should really be thinking about that, and how our policies effect not just us, but our allies and neighbors. Hades.Altimaomega

Fine, we should be a nation that interjects itself everywhere in the world, and gets what it wants. Yet when it comes to actually dealing with issues in the world. We should just say "not our problem". So *** those refugees! We have no obligation to the world, we are just a member of a global society. Let your country take them all then. USA does not want them from voices of vast majority. A small majority, last I checked.
